elcome back to another issue of Factory & Handling Solutions magazine. We hope you all survived the summer heat and, more importantly, that your pro- duction lines stayed firmly up and running! This summer has brought renewed attention to the future of UK
manufacturing, with Prime Minister Andy Burnham placing industrial growth,
regional investment and infrastructure high on the agenda. For factories, warehouses and logistics businesses, this could have a signifi cant knock-on effect. Greater investment in UK manufacturing could drive demand for automation, robotics,
conveyors and materials handling equipment as businesses look to increase capacity, improve effi ciency and strengthen domestic supply chains. Better transport and freight links could also make it easier to move goods across the country. But machinery and infrastructure are only part of the picture. A stronger manufacturing
sector will also require investment in skills, apprenticeships and the next generation of workers. With all this in mind, can Andy Burnham’s industrial vision help put UK manufacturing
