Precise conveyor technology for nest & tub systems in pharmaceutical production

The handling and transport of pre-filled syringes (PFS) in nest & tub systems place high demands on conveyor technology. Precise product guidance, maximum product protection, and stable process integration are crucial. Montech offers flexible conveyor solutions that can be optimally integrated into existing system concepts. Nest & tub systems must be handled

reliably, accurately, and reproducibly in automated pharmaceutical production processes. The goal is to reliably feed sensitive products into the processing system, transport them consistently, and

minimize mechanical stress. At the same time, compact machine layouts require conveyor technology that can be flexibly integrated into existing system concepts. For a machine manufacturer in the pharmaceutical industry, Montech designed a conveyor solution based on the TB30 belt conveyor. This Swiss technology company has specialized in the industrialization and standardization of advanced belt conveyors, transfer systems, and aluminum framing technology for over 60 years.

Process-safe conveying of sensitive products Montech used semi-standardized TB30 belt conveyors to implement the application. The conveyor solution combines brushless drives with low-friction belts, enabling even movement of the nest & tub systems, even with sensitive products and high process requirements. Montech has integrated side guides specifically designed for medical and pharmaceutical applications for precise product guidance. These can be flexibly adapted to different formats and ensure stable guidance of the products along the entire conveying process. At the same time, the components used are easy to clean and low-maintenance.

Flexible solution for demanding applications The modular design of these belt conveyors enables easy integration into existing machines

and systems. As a result, infeed and outfeed can be implemented in a space-saving, efficient manner. The combination of standardized components and customer-specific adaptability offers particular advantages for machine manufacturers, as it reduces project planning time and enables flexible implementation of individual requirements. At the same time, Montech’s short delivery times and great configuration flexibility ensure the cost-effective realization of demanding applications in the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries.

40 years of quality and innovation: Crown Lift Trucks in Roding

Crown, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, is celebrating 40 years of European manufacturing in Roding, Bavaria, Germany. Since the plant opened in 1986, the site has continually expanded and is now a major production facility for the family-owned company headquartered in New Bremen, Ohio, providing products for markets around the globe.

Vertical integration at a high level ensures quality and service One of the key factors behind Crown’s success is the close collaboration between its product development and engineering teams and its customers. In addition, as part of its integrated manufacturing process, Crown produces up to 85 per cent of its forklift components, laying the foundation for precise control over quality, cost and service performance. “40 years in Roding means 40 years of continuous progress, from local innovation and modern

manufacturing processes to solutions for a global market. This is where Crown delivers quality customers around the world can count on,” said Ken Dufford, Vice President Europe at Crown.

Ongoing investments in the site and workforce In 2014, Crown marked another historic milestone in Roding with the opening of a second production facility that meets all the requirements of modern manufacturing technology. While components continue to be manufactured at the original plant, final assembly takes place in the spacious new assembly hall. At the centre is a test area featuring a 20-metre-high glass tower, where new vehicles undergo comprehensive testing before leaving the plant. Crown is also committed to investing in its employees. Opened in 2025, the Crown Training

and Development Centre (TDC) offers hands-on training in forklift and crane operation, as well as advanced manufacturing techniques. The company also provides professional development programmes to prepare apprentices and new employees for their roles. This year, Crown recognised 32 employees in Roding for 25 years or more of service. Mario

Jofson welcomes Simon Emery as new Managing Director

Jofson has appointed Simon Emery as its new Managing Director, adding more than 30 years of materials handling experience to its senior leadership team. Simon previously spent his career with Crown Lift Trucks,

where his roles included senior UK and EMEA-wide leadership positions — most recently as Director Sales & Marketing EMEA in Munich — following almost six years as Managing Director of Crown Lift Trucks UK. “It’s brilliant to have Simon on board,” said Rachel Moore, Jofson CEO. “With Jofson’s recent

growth and ambition, Simon’s industry knowledge and insight will be invaluable.” Simon Emery says: “Crown has been such a big part of my lift, so it was always going to take

a special role for me to move on, but that’s exactly what this is. I’ve seen the growth of Jofson in recent years and it’s a project I’m excited to be a part of. “I can’t wait to get started, meet the team, and see where we can take it over the next few years.”

Kulzer, Plant Manager, was among the employees recognised: “To me, it’s a real success story that we started in 1986 with 50 employees and have grown to the size of what we are today. This shows that Crown is growing steadily and sustainably, and that our products, solutions and services have consistently been in demand. Our production makes a decisive contribution every day, bringing our brand promise to life: ‘When every minute matters, customers can count on Crown to keep their businesses moving’.”
