ERT Awards moves to December

The ERT Awards will return in December this year! So mark your calendars for Monday 6 December as retailers, manufacturers and suppliers will come together once again at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden. Following the Government’s extension of the current COVID-19 restrictions, and the

resulting shift in the industry calendar, the event has moved from 18 October to 6 December 2021 to ensure everyone can safely and easily attend in person. Returning to its popular format, the day will start with the ERT Turning Point Live!

Conference, where you will hear from industry peers about best practice and business ideas in the electrical retail sector after a sincerely unpredictable year. Then, the winners of the prestigious ERT Awards trophies will be announced in an afternoon of celebration following a drinks reception and networking lunch. It truly is the event of the year. This is your chance to meet with colleagues and friends

to celebrate and recognise excellence across the electrical retail industry. Jack Cheeseman, Editor of ERTmagazine, said: “It has certainly been a tricky year for

everyone, and we are hoping that the rescheduling of the ERT Awards will allow everyone to feel safer and more comfortable so they can really enjoy the day. “It is absolutely vital that we take time to reflect on the hard work and the success of this

incredible industry! I am extremely excited for this event to return and to see so many of you there in December.”

Bristol retailer rebrands and opens new megastore Mr Gilks added: “Our pledge to our trade customers is

that we will guarantee to be cheaper than anyone, including Howdens, B&Q, Currys or Screwfix. We will beat any online competition through a bespoke service and will ensure that they can collect appliances, sinks and taps within 60 seconds of purchase. “We are over the moon that we can offer this degree of

service to the trades in our area thanks to the great relationships we have through Sirius Buying Group.”

Nailsea Electricals in Bristol has rebranded as NE Appliances and opened a new 15,000sq ft retail superstore. This second-generation family-owned business

rebranded after 38 years with ambitious plans to become the number one destination store for Bath and Bristol. It has got a prime location in a trading estate just four miles south of Bristol city centre. Managing Director, Ben Gilks, took over the business

in 2004 at the age of 19; his father, Peter Gilks, founded Nailsea Electricals in 1983.

“Our first weeks of trade have been a great success in

the new store,” said Ben Gilks. “The showroom and website are offering us a great platform to showcase the many brands and appliances we have and there will be a huge focus on our business-to-business operations, including nation-wide delivery thanks to our significant investment in much-improved logistics, distribution and warehousing.” As part of the NE Appliances business strategy, Mr Gilks

and his 12-strong team are rolling out the red carpet to their trade customers with an instant access, 10 per cent discount NE trade card.
