Haier UK and Ireland, for this exclusive interview, he reflected on how the pandemic has affected the company and the home appliances market more generally. “It has been a year of both challenges and


opportunities, but business has been surprisingly good,” Mr Meyerowitz told ERT. “Most of the challenges were supply chain-related across both production and shipping, however, the opportunities have been far more significant. “Market data is good, thanks to consumers’ greater focus on their home life and our teams


anticipated this uplift, along with other changes in demand. The result is we have posted record sales in many areas; notably our dominant growth in tumble dryers, an incredible up scaling of our built-in business and the terrific expansion of Haier, our mass market premium brand.” Mr Meyerowitz went on to explain that 2020 was


also a record year for Haier Europe, which includes the Haier, Hoover and Candy brands, where revenues in excess of €2.1bn were secured. Haier, as a group, grew almost 20 per cent. He added: “In-line with this, we are continuing


towards our ambition to be the first choice for smart home…” (More on that shortly).
