portable, enclosed feeder and the precision and control of a shop-style feeder. Its PreciDrive wire drive system delivers better arc starts and stops without backlash or play in the gears. Large diameter (38 mm) drive rolls offer more gripping area and provide more pushing force without deforming soft cored and aluminium wires. It handles solid wires up to 2.0 mm and cored wires up to 2.4 mm and feeds wire at speeds of 0.8 to 25.0 m/min.

SAB’s OK AristoRod® 38 Zn is a solid wire with a specially alloyed formula that minimises porosity and spatter on galvanised steels. It significantly reduces or

eal time process control for food manufacture has come a significant step closer, thanks to pioneering research work at University College Dublin into
viscosity measurement techniques for characterising the flow and mixability of highly non-Newtonian fluids. At the heart of the researchers' experiments is the TorqSense transducer made by Sensor Technology in Oxon, which monitors the constantly changing flow characteristics of materials as diverse as tomato ketchup, chocolate, pasta sauce and chicken tikka massala as they are mixed. This is done by monitoring the torque on the mixer's shaft, as it will
move to a steady state (within the characteristics of the given recipe) once fluid uniformity is achieved. Real time process control is vital if food processors are to achieve the
ultimate in product quality. The sensor has to be able to detect the changes with sufficient sensitivity, yet be robust enough for regular wash-downs and general industrial abuse.
