TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL

Variohm EuroSensor EPS series pressure switches suit a wide range of pressure switching tasks

series includes three different environment-matched models , each competitively priced for pressure ranges from 0.3 to 350 bar.

operator can simply place parts in the cabinet, lower the screen, and use the integral blow gun to clean parts using factory compressed air. An integral venturi system assists with capture of coolant and the filter system in the base of the unit is easily replaced when full. The new model 100mm wide BD1000 joins the existing

500mm wide BD500 and is designed for longer components. Both models run solely from factory air supplies with no requirement for electrical connections – making them ideal for location next to machine tools for regular operator use. Maintenance is minimal with only occasional filter pad

changes required. Contact AirBench Ltd to arrange a trial. AirBench

irBench BD is a self-contained blowdown station for the removal of coolant and swarf from machined parts. An

Two models offer pressure ranges 0.3 to 2 bar and 1 to 10 bar

with switch-point setting via a set-screw. For pressure switching tasks where the external environment requires a more resilient housing material, the EPS-02 series offers similar specifications and pressure range options as the EPS-01 series but is housed in a VA 1.4305 stainless steel. Additionally the EPS- 02 offers a choice of silver or gold microswitch contacts. Both models offer a 100 VA switch breaking capacity with electrical connection via flat pins and a switch-back difference accuracy of under 10%. With a generous 20 bar overpressure limit, design options available for the EPS- 01 and EPS-02 include a Viton™ diaphragm where increased switching resilience is needed.

For higher pressure switching or for greater application flexibility, the EPS-03 series covers five model types as a

spring loaded diaphragm design for pressures from 0.5 to 10 bar or a spring loaded piston design for pressures to 350 bar - with nitrile diaphragm/piston as standard or optional Viton on request. Generous working and overpressure limits provide safety and reliable use. A durable galvanised steel housing offers an IP65 rating and is complete with a PG9 electrical connection for switch breaking capacity that suits AC-12 and DC12 resistance loads or AC-14 and DC-13 inductive loads. Where lower switched voltages can be accommodated (42 V), an M12 x 1 round connector is optionally available.

Throughout the EPS range, media temperature range is -25 to +85 °C with higher temperatures on request,

whilst reliability and performance is ensured with a mechanical life of over 1 million cycles and a switching frequency of 200/min.

Variohm Retran Reaches 100% W

ith the huge success of Retran® packaging, Bell have been working with their raw material manufacturers to achieve an even higher percentage of post-consumer waste within this product.

New for 2020 Bell are delighted to announce that they can now supply Retran® packaging made from 100% Post-

Consumer Waste. The material is particularly exciting as it has been approved by the European Food Standards Agency for direct contact with food. Traditionally the surfaces of Retran® have required a virgin layer of film for food applications however the new

formulation means that virgin film layer is no longer necessary. The new material contains 100% recycled polymer which is derived from home waste i.e. plastic rubbish that has

been thrown out, collected, sorted and turned back into material that can be used again. Critical to the product is the source of the waste which is essential to ensure continuity of supply and maintain

little or no difference in the colour of the film from batch to batch. Retailers require certainty about the origin of their packaging therefore the new material supplied by Bell is

fully certified. Commenting on the development Managing

Director Peter Lennie stated “When we first launched Retran® offering a 70% recycled content our key client base was delighted however our ambition has always been to reach the magical 100% figure and this opens up a range of new application areas for our packaging solutions.” ‘’This is the most exciting development

that Bell have announced in 2019 and we know it will be a huge success throughout Europe. With Government, local authority and consumers demand for improved recyclability, Retran® provides a fantastic opportunity and delivers a 100% recyclable finished product. “The new material is currently on test with

some key clients and as soon as we have their feedback, we will roll the material out to the rest of our customer base.”

OMC’s new fibre optic emitter transmits data long-distances

FDE854LBF suits longer distance or restricted power applications; generates less heat in sensitive, enclosed designs O

MC, the pioneer in optoelectronics design & manufacture, announces a new fibre optic emitter

designated the FDE854LBF, which incorporates next- generation infra-red die technology and integral micro- optics to achieve high levels of coupled power into all standard fibre- optic core sizes. The new transmitter is optimised for use with glass fibre- optic systems and thanks to both higher launch powers (up to 30% increase over the previous device generation) and enhanced consistency from device to device, delivers far superior performance, enabling data to be sent over greater distances – up to a kilometre further depending on fibre type and size. A further advantage offered by the higher launch power

of the FDE854LBF is its ability to be driven at up to 30% lower currents for applications that do not require the additional launch power.
