Home Hardware celebrates first corporate store in Northern Ireland


McListers, located in the heart of Ballycastle was established in 1909 as an independent General Merchant store and is now run by James McLister, the fourth generation of this family business.


Being an independent shop, McListers can quickly respond and adapt to customer’s

Watson Home Hardware (Sutton on Sea) received the runner’s up prize of £50 M&S vouchers. Robert Halfon MP visits Screwfix store in Harlow


Screwfix welcomed Robert Halfon MP for Harlow, Essex, to its Harlow store to meet with colleagues on the retailer’s successful Apprenticeship programme. Robert Halfon MP was hosted by the store team and Screwfix HR Director, Liz Bell, with an opportunity to learn about the business and Screwfix’s commitment in supporting colleagues’ development


through its apprenticeship programme.


They met with a colleague who is currently participating in the apprenticeship programme as well as customers in store, highlighting the importance and benefits of a career in such an interesting trade.


Speaking about his visit, Robert Halfon MP said: “I was delighted to visit Screwfix last week, it was great to not only


tour the site and sign up as a customer but also to meet their incredible Level 3 Apprentice, Sam, who was training to become an Assistant Manager. As Harlow’s MP, I am proud to represent one of the best, biggest and oldest Screwfix branches in the country, which is helping the local and national economy by employing 16 residents and creating £4 million in revenue every year.”

Henry Bell appoints new National Sales Manager


Leading pet and wild bird food producer Henry Bell & Co has appointed Andrew Mellowes as National Sales Manager to support the company’s growth in the garden centre sector. He will work alongside an extensive network of sales agents to consolidate and develop customer relationships. Mellowes, with vast experience of the gardening


trade, has held a variety of positions over the past 20 years. He worked at Gardman, where he became Commercial Support Director, and was General Manager of Woodlodge Products, a supplier of garden and indoor pots and accessories. Before joining Henry Bell, Mellowes was Commercial Director of Burpee Europe, a wholesale supplier of vegetable and flower seed to the UK’s home garden seed market. “I am really looking forward to working with the Henry Bell team to build on the company’s significant success and to re-engage with customers and colleagues across the garden centre industry,” he said.
