BUSINESS PROFILE

Palace Rock-Tite is just the job for superb patio refurbishment

Rock-Tite Exterior Porcelain & Stone System was developed specifically to appeal to DIYers, who want an easy-to-use system for installing the increasingly popular 20mm porcelain tiles externally for patios and terraces. A

recommendation

from a landscaper shows that the product is suitable for anybody tackling this task, whether a professional or DIY user. Brett Corcoran of TC Fencing & Landscaping, used the product on a patio job in Staffordshire and was full of praise once the project was completed: “After using the Rock-Tite system on a patio refurb project, I can strongly recommend

it,” he said. “I can recommend the Rock-Tite products to not only the building trade but to DIY customers too due to their simplicity in use.” The project concerned was an ideal candidate for Rock-Tite. The home owner wanted to extend their living area into the garden by installing porcelain tiles to create a seamless and natural flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. The end-result is highly attractive and definitely a very worthwhile improvement to the property. The tiles on this project are Johnson Tiles, 20mm porcelain, 600 x 600, from their Boundary collection in colour Dune. Laying the tiles was made much easier than it would otherwise

have been without the assistance of Rock-Tite. The product provides a high

strength mortar for bonding concrete, natural stone and porcelain paving slabs to a hardcore or solid base. The Rock-Tite additives improve performance, workability and freeze/thaw resistance of the finished mortar mix. The choice of mortars allows customers to purchase their sand separately if they wish. As Brett Corcoran says: “The mortar used has been a long-existing problem with the amount of mess that sand and cement make. This simple solution just to add water throughout the mixture has solved

a lot of the issues and the result is excellent. It goes off extremely fast and allows us to complete other tasks very quickly.

“I also found the Rock-Tite

Porcelain Primer simple to use. And a must when it comes to porcelain paving, binding the paving to the Rock-Tite Mortar, creating an incredibly solid paving base. “To finish, the Rock-Tite Brush-

In Grout was one of the easiest modern solutions for grouting I have come across, with many old- fashioned ways being very messy and time-consuming. It was very straightforward, once again just applying water, and brushing into the joints of the paving.”

The full Palace DIY range, including Rock-Tite, will be on show at DIY Week Live on 21st and 22nd October at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham. Palace Chemicals are a sponsor of the event.
