The winners of the 2022 Kbsa Designer Awards were announced on 28 September at the Awards Dinner, which followed the Kitchen and Bathroom Conference, held at the Belfry Hotel. The awards were presented by special guest

FrogTape designs take to the stage for European festival


Designs created with leading masking tape brand FrogTape have been used to make the artwork for the Zurich Open Air Festival.


The organisers of the event,


which welcomes over 170,000 people over three days, saw the vibrant geometric designs of Brighton-based Art + Believe and


commissioned them to


provide the artwork for this year’s festival. The main stage of

The 2022 Judging Panel independently shortlisted and selected the Winning and Highly Commended entries submitted by suppliers, designers and retailers from across the globe. The big night took place at


Proud Embankment on the 22 September, with the Creative Retail Awards’ unique take on a ceremony that blends networking with an informal party atmosphere celebrating the diversity in our industry. Shunning the traditional gala dinner format, the Awards ceremony was interspersed with enthralling live acts, finishing with a live band and DJ into the small hours.

The night was attended by the Who’s Who list of suppliers, designers, and retailers including ASDA, Chopard, Dermalogica, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Musgrave Group, Ribble Cycles, Sky, Sports Direct, and many more. Each Award category gave the shortlisted entrants a chance to walk away with a highly commended or winner’s trophy in front of a supportive crowd of industry peers. Winners this year included projects from retailers such as AT&T, Situ Live, Chanel, Coach, Nestlé, and Woolworths South Africa. Store Design of the Year was won by Sports Direct with their new Oxford Street store, with the Retail Experience Award going to Chanel and Harrods for their Door Nº5 in celebration of 100 years of Chanel Nº5. The ceremony closed with the announcement of


the Judges’


Choice Award, which this year went to Portuguese tinned goods store Comur Coimbra,

Landscape show 2022 celebrates success


Settling into Birmingham’s NEC for a second year, Landscape provided another opportunity to network and meet clientele, and was overwhelmed by support from the industry. With

added, the exhibition was one to remember. Landscape supported student talent, introducing the Graduate Showcase by London College of Garden Design, giving visibility and opportunities for development to new designers within the industry.

In addition, the annual Kbsa Supplier Award was presented. This award is judged by Kbsa retail members. Each year they have the opportunity to vote


the Zurich Open Air Festival was surrounded with Art + Believe’s art recreated digitally, as was the giant ‘Z’ that welcomed visitors to the event. The art will be used for three years.

their colourful


geometric designs which have been used on building exteriors, palace floors, city architecture and even beer bottles. Their work relies on straight lines so Shurtape, owner of FrogTape has sponsored the duo for a number of years, as the unique Paintblock Technology in the


masking tape means it provides the neatest straight lines possible, with no paint bleed. Dan said: “We love to create artwork that is bold, fresh and exciting, and we are very grateful to Shurtape for the support over the years. We love to use FrogTape with our painted designs as we need clean, sharp lines in our work.”


PEOPLE NEWS NEW APPOINTMENTS AT PELSIS GROUP


Global pest control manufacturer and distributor Pelsis Group has appointed Scott Gammon as General Manager for its UK and Nordics operations. Scott joins Pelsis from Rentokil Initial where he was Area Operations Manager, having worked for the business for 17 years. Scott will oversee Pelsis Group distribution businesses in the UK, Ireland and Nordic regions.


Former BPCA president Tom Holmes has also been appointed as the group’s Global Portfolio Lead for its flykiller product category. Tom transitions from his role as Head of Pro-Pest Development of the groups distribution division, Edialux Professional. He will now be focused on strategy and portfolio development for Pelsis, which operates


flykiller brands, Brandenburg and Insect-O-Cutor. Speaking about the appointments, Pelsis Chief Operating Officer Cahal McQuillan said: “We are pleased to welcome Scott to the business as General Manager and congratulate Tom on his appointment as Global Portfolio Lead for our market leading flykiller category. The business has exciting plans for the future as we continue to develop and supply new, innovative products and provide support services to our retail and professional customers.”
