BARRETTINE’S Wood Care range includes protectors, preservers and oils for all types of wood surfaces and structures, from fences and summer houses to decking. British-made – and trusted by professionals and the trade - best-selling treatments include its ‘Nourish & Protect’ Wood Protective Treatment, Wood Preserver and the All- in-One and Anti-Slip Decking Oils. For all types of pre-treated rough, sawn or smooth timber – from sheds to gazeboes - Barrettine ‘Nourish & Protect’ Wood Protective Treatment provides water and UV protection. It also contains a ‘biocide film’ wood preserver which prevents the surface growth of mould and algae. Barrettine Wood Preserver provides additional protection against wood boring insects, wood rotting fungi and blue stain, as well as water and UV resistance. Both treatments are oil/spirit based for deeper penetration, have a low odour ready- to-use formulation and are available in eight shades, including clear, five brown tones, holly green and black. Specifically formulated for treated decking boards and tiles, Barrettine All- in-One Decking Oil creates a non-flaking finish that protects against water and UV-rays, helping to prevent splitting, cracking and fading. A surface biocide preserver also protects against mould and algae growth. The oil is offered in six natural shades and can be used on all types of pressure and preservative- treated boards and tiles, as well as sheds, summerhouses and fences. Follow-on treatment – Barrettine award-winning Anti-Slip Decking Oil – is a low-sheen top coat that enhances grip underfoot. It also provides further protection against the elements and helps slow discolouration.

n www.protekwoodstain.co.uk HOW TO CHOOSE A FINISHING OIL FOR BEAUTIFULWOODWORK

Those in the professional decorating and woodworking trades will know that the application of oils is one of the oldest forms of wood finishing. The process results in a natural, hardwearing effect with an unmistakable, beautiful sheen and silky smoothness that customers appreciate. But with many options for internal woodwork from which to choose, what should professionals look out for? According to the woodcare expert, LIBERON, the answer is a blended option such as its Finishing Oil, containing hardwearing oils and resins that will produce a lasting and water-resistant finish. The resin content should be such that it enables protection not only against water but heat and alcohol too. Liberon’s Finishing Oil is to be found increasingly amongst the items of the decorator’s and woodworker’s tool kit, and is one of the company’s ‘Essential Top 6’ products. This is because it really nourishes and enhances the colour of interior wood and turned woodwork, resulting in a truly beautiful effect. By applying extra coats of the oil, resin build-up is facilitated, which means that a variety of finishes can be achieved, including matt, satin or gloss. With its low viscosity, Liberon’s Finishing Oil ensures deep penetration, making it ideal for all types of bare wood. If working in kitchens and bathrooms this oil is recommended, thanks to its water-resistant formula.
