Light at the end of the tunnel
It seems hard to believe that we are already a month into the new year, but we hit the ground running after the Christmas break and January has been really busy, with lots of events planned for the year ahead, as we gradually emerge from the enforced Covid hibernation of the last 18 months or so. There certainly seems to be a light at the end of what has been an extremely long and unpleasant tunnel, as we adapt and learn to live with the coronavirus. As far as business is concerned, the DIY, home improvement and garden retail sector has continued to fare well, enjoying a busy Christmas trading period, according to both the Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) Barometer of Trade (BoT) and the Horticultural Trades Association’s
(HTA) Garden Retail Monitor. This means there have still been plenty of exciting new products and solutions developed for this buoyant market and it’s these great ideas and innovations, along with the ingenuity and resilience shown by the industry, that we will be celebrating once again at this year’s DIY Week Awards. Now in their eleventh year, the awards have become the leading scheme for the recognition of excellence from
across the DIY, home improvement and garden retail sector. We’ve already received a high number of quality entries this year and the closing date is fast approaching, so if you haven’t got yours in yet, now is the time to visit the event website at
www.diyweekawards.co.uk where you will find plenty of information about how to enter. You can also learn more about what we have planned for this year on page 17 of this issue. We will be bringing you more news and updates in the next few issues as we look forward to being able to celebrate the industry’s achievements and the return to a live awards presentation event again.
