Easter Monday saw Stelrad Radiators sponsoring the Montagu Cup – a football tournament that is entered each year by teams across South Yorkshire, that the radiator manufacturer has been associated with for many years. The Montagu Cup is organised voluntarily by a management committee that ensure that it continues to be successful both as a major local attraction and a source of income for the Montagu Hospital Patients’ Comforts Fund. The game was a pulsating contest between Mexborough club Dog Daisy United and Doncaster based Scawthorpe Athletic who had entered the Montagu Cup competition for the first time.

The scores were level at 3-3 after 90 minutes. In extra time, Scawthorpe completed their comeback to score a fourth goal and win the game 4-3. The presentation of trophies and medals was shared between Stelrad representative Shaun Wilkinson and local football legend ex-Sheffield United midfielder, Geoff Salmons.

WestFraser helps out with lifeboat team

West Fraser, formerly known as Norbord, has donated SterlingOSB Zero, made in the company’s Inverness plant, to the team building a new lifeboat centre for the East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA) in Dornoch, Scotland.

The panel product was donated to the independent

lifeboat charity to create flooring in the new centre’s upper floor which features a training room, office space and showers for the 16 volunteers to make use of. The new ESRA lifeboat centre has been created to commemorate the group’s 40th anniversary of providing vital support for anyone who has found themselves at risk in the neighbouring coastline.

Stuart Hendry, General Manager at West Fraser’s Inverness mill, said: “We are always happy to support great local initiatives in any way we can, so we were thrilled to help ESRA to continue their life-saving duties.”
