TALASEY PIONEERS TOP END DECKING DEVELOPMENT
The latest developments take decking to new levels, as BMJ discovers. T
alasey, the Lincolnshire-based manufacturer of landscaping solutions, is launching a new collection of composite decking that features 4K high-definition wood imaging. Pioneer is a range of composite decking, designed to capture grain and texture with precision, and blend a realistic hardwood timber aesthetic with board resilience and durability.
Talasey sales director Aaron Frogley says the introduction of Pioneer is a “gamechanger” for the North Lincolnshire-based company, claiming that It takes composite decking to a new level of quality and realism. “Pioneer is pioneering in the world of composite decking, and Talasey is extremely proud to bring a ‘first of its kind’ product to the UK,” he says.
Pioneer uses PMMA technology, a transparent thermoplastic that has been adapted from high-performance applications in industries such as aerospace.
Frogley explains: “It really is a gamechanger – not just because of its sheer aesthetic quality combined with its durability but also because it comes without the environmental cost of the deforestation required to produce such stunning decking boards.
“As well as the visual look of the boards and their longevity, other benefits include their texture, strength, sustainability, slip resistance and effortless maintenance, as well as the speed at which they can be installed.”
Pioneer uses genuine scans of real timber with the 4K ultra-high-definition surface imaging capturing every grain detail and depth in crystal-clear clarity.
Pioneer comes in three design options: Natural Ipe; a luxurious espresso-brown base with subtle golden undertones, Jacaranda; a lively and bold grain with sweeping caramel and honeyed tones intertwined with deeper, smoky contrasts, and Darker Oak, which contains deep chocolate hues softened by warm amber streaks on a whitewashed background.
Thanks to the PMMA coating, developed for use in aeroplane windows, replacement cataract lenses and luxury watch faces, which protects the deck board, Pioneer’s grain stays true to colour, without fading or distortion, showing zero fade to the human eye even after 4,000 hours under UV light conditions. Frogley continues: “Pioneer is precision- crafted for a natural look and feel. Every stunning grain is enhanced and captured in lifelike detail to give a smooth and natural surface texture that feels just like freshly finished wood.”
An easy-to-clean surface that resists dirt and moisture, only requiring minimal upkeep with no harsh chemical treatments. Pioneer is designed to retain its ‘day 1’ traction even in heavy-traffic areas for years – and its high- performance surface ensures safe and secure grip.

strands and bamboo with a foamed PVC core. Together, they form a robust, reinforced, mixed core that resists softening, flexing, warping and impact.
It uses a collated clip system and hidden top fixing Pro Plug speeds up installation, ensuring a seamless without sacrificing stability or durability. The boards strengthened bamboo core means the joist centres can be further apart (500mm).
Frogley adds: “Bamboo is known for its natural antibacterial properties, thanks to its kun content. In Pioneer’s bamboo mixed core, these properties actively resist odours, mould, and allergens, reducing the need for chemical treatments and enhancing long-term hygiene. Combined with a wood-free composition, Pioneer creates a cleaner, healthier outdoor environment for families to enjoy year after year.” Talasey says the product can outlast timber by up to 4x, meaning fewer replacements and promising less waste.
Talasey is aiming Pioneer at those landscape customers who are looking for an aspirationl product. Frogley says: “Pioneer is ideal for homes where every detail matters, every feature must stand out and every finish must be flawless. It is ideal for outdoor spaces where homeowners want to make a bold statement through the use of high- quality materials. It is the next generation of composite decking in a new class of innovation, or in other words, decking reimagined.” BMJ
