SEALANTS, ADHESIVES, CHEMICALS
“Additionally, builders can avoid waiting for a newly installed screed to dry naturally to a level where flooring installations can proceed without risking floor failure, which can take weeks or months. In these situations, the application of a liquid damp proof membrane is recommended to prevent excess subfloor moisture affecting floorcoverings.
“A recently launched, water-based formulation, Setcrete Fast-Track Primer DPM will create an effective barrier against residual construction moisture where relative humidity values are up to 95%, with two coats, it eliminates the need to prime. The first coat cures in 15-30 minutes, and a further 30 minutes curing time is required for the second coat. “This means that when used with a fast-track levelling compound applied as a 2mm skim coat, floors can be ready for floorcoverings in under two hours.”
New generations
Bond It, the leading manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and building chemicals, has launched three next generation, self-levelling flooring compounds.
Part of a revised LevelMaster range, all three new flooring compounds employ advanced formulations to ensure performance and versatility.
The first of the three, new, Bond It self- levelling flooring compounds is LevelMaster LM200.
This product, which is designed to be an everyday essential offering reliable results is an improved version of the manufacturer’s previous LevelMaster Standard.
Robust, durable and easy to use, LevelMaster LM200 is suitable for creating bed thicknesses from 0 – 12mm and can be used with underfloor heating that has been encapsulated in a screed. Bond It’s new, mid-point, floor levelling compound is LevelMaster LM200FP. This product builds on the performance of LM200 but still retains a competitive price.
It is able to offer greater strength, impact resistance and flexibility compared to LevelMaster LM200 thanks to the fact that it is fibre reinforced and polymer enhanced. In addition, LevelMaster LM200FP can be used with underfloor heating, and like LevelMaster LM200, is suitable for creating bed thicknesses from 0 – 12mm.
The new, range topping, Bond It self-levelling flooring compound is LevelMaster Fibre Plus. This product is an evolution of Bond It’s previous and enduringly popular LevelMaster Ad-Floor Plus. As well as being suitable for use with underfloor heating, Bond It LevelMaster Fibre Plus is polymer enhanced and fibre reinforced. This ensures all the same benefits in terms of strength, impact resistance and flexibility as LevelMaster LM200FP.
What really sets LevelMaster Fibre Plus apart however is its capabilities in terms of bed depth. It can be used to create beds of up to 50mm. This makes it the perfect choice for very uneven

floors or where there is a need to accommodate intruding services such as heating cables and pipes.
All three of the new Bond It LevelMaster flooring compounds offer a coverage rate of 4m2 at a 3mm thickness per 20kg bag, have a 12 month shelf life, are trafficable after three hours and can be overlaid after four hours. Kirstie Cooper, marketing manager at Bond It says: “The launch of LevelMaster LM200, LevelMaster LM200FP and LevelMaster Fibre Plus is evidence of Bond It’s relentless commitment to continuous improvement.”
“They build on the success and popularity of three previously manufactured products. These original products offered good levels of performance, but as a business we remain focused on providing more than good. We aim to deliver the exceptional.”
These new formulations are also protein free, which provides an advantage to durability. “The use of protein free formulations across our updated LevelMaster range is significant because it offers a number of important benefits” explains Cooper
“It inhibits bacterial growth making all three new compounds particularly suited to environments where hygiene is of the utmost importance such as in kitchens or healthcare establishments.
“In addition, it enhances bonding properties and flexibility, enabling our new compounds to better accommodate the movement of suspended flooring and especially when that flooring isn’t closely fitted.”
Bond It is not the only company working on new technology for outdoor use sealant. Also resistant to fungal growth, OB1 Multi- Surface Construction Sealant & Adhesive’s hybrid formula has been refined over two decades. This resistance is particularly important in damp environments such as bathrooms and kitchens. Once applied, OB1 will seal and bond surfaces effectively, and prevent the growth of mould and mildew.
Another impressive feature of OB1 is its ability to work in water. Its hybrid polymer formulation can be applied under water and retain its initial bond. It also acts as a structural underwater bond in closed-face applications in swimming pools such as floor and wall tiles without the need to drain the pool.
OB1 Multi-Surface Construction Sealant & Adhesive will maintain its robust bond when cured from -40°C to +120°C and therefore is able to cope in harsh external weathering conditions and in a refrigerated environment. Its bond has the ability to elongate up to 350%. This versatility is one of the reasons why OB1 Multi-Surface Construction Sealant & Adhesive has become popular among professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike.
And with the industry evolving continuously so too do the considerations of product manufacturers.
Sustainable demand
As the demand for sustainable construction materials grows, ArmaFlex, a global leader in flexible foam ECO550 adhesives provide a safer and healthier working environment. These water-based products reduce risks associated with solvents and unpleasant smells. Plus, this eco-friendlier solution aligns with environmental certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, and DGNB, promoting sustainable practices in modern construction. “ArmaFlex ECO550 represents a significant step forward in adhesive technology,” says Thomas Geiping, product manager at Armacell. “This range delivers outstanding performance and offers a safer, more sustainable solution. By reducing the amount of adhesive required and eliminating solvents, we are helping customers work more efficiently and in greater comfort.” ArmaFlex ECO550 adhesives require no hazardous materials declarations and are easy to store and transport. Cleaning is straightforward, with water sufficient for uncured adhesive. Once cured, adhesive can be easily removed with a metal brush, making it a practical and user-friendly choice. Eduard Getzel, managing director at Getzel Isoliertechnik, Ibbenbüren (Germany), tested the product and said: “ArmaFlex ECO550 impresses by its high performance, meeting and exceeding our expectations by being both efficient and environmentally friendly. Its easy storage and disposal, along with efficient use, make it a standout choice that aligns perfectly with our company’s sustainability goals.” BMJ
