AND FINALLY JB Kind donates to Dementia UK
JB Kind Doors has raised £8,500 for Dementia UK after three years of charity efforts. JB Kind raised the money with a series of events including a charity gala dinner held in 2019, plus an 822-mile walk undertaken in 2021.
Managing director, James Cadman, said: “Here at JB Kind we are delighted to have donated £8,500 to a very worthy cause: Dementia UK. Dementia UK is a cause that is close to many of our hearts at JB Kind and we are very proud to have raised such a large total for them.”
In 2021, the team at JB Kind, along with their family and friends, raised a total of £3,320 through their virtual walk to
Scotland – dubbed the “OutDOOR Walkathon”. In the same year, a
further £911 was raised through smaller
initiatives like a Eurovision sweepstake, a tuck shop,
cake bake sales and dress down days.
2019 was also a big year for JB Kind’s Dementia UK fundraising efforts with its gala dinner, held in Burton Albion Football Club, raising an impressive £4,200. JB Kind supports a different
cause every two years, and will decide on its next charity this month. Employees at the firm will be asked to nominate causes that are close to their hearts, and the company’s charity committee will decide on the next worthy cause to support.
Buttle’s raise £1000 into Frank Bruno Foundation
Customers and suppliers of Buttle’s builders merchants have clubbed together to raise over £1000 for the Frank Bruno Foundation.
Bespoke crazy golf courses were installed in all four of Buttle’s branches – in Leighton Buzzard, Enfield, Kentish Town, and St Albans – using products that they sell for the team’s first official fundraising event. This included a twist on traditional collection boxes with
Buttle’s ‘spend a penny toilets’, comprising of toilet basins to throw in loose change.
Commercial manager, Hannah Brunton, said: “It was a great event which really saw our staff embrace the crazy golf course. We wanted to bring the old adage about doing business on the golf course to life in our branches and the idea to build our own crazy golf holes was set. “Raising funds for the foundation is a great bonus
Selco helps Essex junior footballers
Selco Builders Warehouse is sponsoring Essex grass-roots football team, Bowers & Pitsea under 14s, who will carry the name of Selco Builders Warehouse on the front of their shirts.
The team is currently top of the Eastern Junior Alliance Under 14 Green Division having won nine matches out of nine. Kevin Stanbridge, team manager, said: “The team has been performing brilliantly on the pitch and the missing piece of the jigsaw has been new kits.
“We have been playing in strips handed down from higher age groups which has been great but to have new kits is such a boost. “We have been searching for a potential sponsor and Martine King, a parent of one of our players, has been very busy contacting local businesses seeking support. We were thrilled when Selco came forward. “It’s a major national company with a very local presence through the branch in Basildon and the lads are delighted to be playing in their stylish new kits.
