PM hopeful Gove visits Norbord


Secretary of State for the Environ- ment Food and Rural Affairs, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, went to Norbord’s operations in Cowie, Stirlingshire, to hear about the challenges he company faces sourcing its raw material. Gove was given a guided tour accompanied by local MP Stephen Kerr, who chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the wood panel industry. Norbord and other


manufacturers in the Wood Panel Industries’ Federation have warned that a major government rethink is required to help the industry satisfy demand for its products.


A recent report carried out on behalf of the APPG for the wood panel industry, involving former Energy Minister, the Rt Hon Brian Wilson, concluded that wood availability will decrease dramatically within the next decade.


The strain on the UK’s wood basket is being exacerbated by renewable energy subsidies and is creating real uncertainty for wood panel manufacturers while endangering the supply of key materials in the construction and house building sectors. James Burrell opens new-look Blyth branch


James Burrell Builders Merchant welcomed the captain of Blyth Spartans A.F.C, Robbie Dale, and Vice-Chairman, Kevin Scott to officially open the company’s renovated Blyth branch. The independent builders merchant, based in Gateshead, has completed a major £250k renovation of the branch and

Independent merchant buying group National Buying Group has added About Roofing Supplies Ltd, Alltype Roofing Supplies Ltd and Peterhead Hardware & DIY Ltdto its list of partners. About Roofing Supplies, founded in 1998, operates four branches across Surrey and West Sussex.


Family-owned Peterhead Hardware and DIY Ltd (pictured), formed in 1997 and based north of Aberdeen, supplies trade and the public through a single branch. The central location houses both North East Timber Supplies supplying timber, building and plumbing supplies and Taylor Made Interiors supplying a range of British and German kitchens and bathrooms. Third new member Alltype Roofing Supplies opened its doors in 1979 in south east London.


Keyline gets awareness campaign on the road


Keyline has upped its campaign to generate awareness of prostate cancer with its the form of newly-branded truck. 2019 marks the 10th year of the specialist civils distributor partnering with leading men’s health charity Prostate Cancer UK in order to raise money and vital awareness of the disease. This initiative is one of many that Keyline and Prostate Cancer UK have collaborated on successfully with £1.8 million raised so far. There are four Keyline trucks in total that have the branding, which will be used for business across the UK. The Willesden branch will be the only one in London to receive this limited-edition truck.
