JB Kind puts charity in Mind

JB Kind, based in Derbyshire has announced it will be supporting Mind, the mental health charity, after canvassing views amongst staff as to which cause they would like to support next. Managing director James Cadman said the overwhelming feedback from employees was that they wanted to support a charity which helped people with mental health. “It became very clear when we asked our staff

that supporting mental health was very much the direction we wanted to go in.

“The pandemic has taken a huge mental health toll on many people across the globe. We are so impressed with the work that Burton and District Mind does, that we wanted to help them reach out to many more people, which hopefully we can do by pledging to raise money for them during 2022 and 2023.”

The team at JB Kind have planned a timetable of fun activities to raise funds for this significant and important charity. Kicking off with a Winter Olympic sweepstake in February, planned activities include an Easter raffle, summer pub quiz, baby photo competition and golf day, plus a monthly dress down day.

James Cadman added: “Here at JB Kind charities are very important to us – in fact, it’s definitely fair to say we like to put the ‘fun’ in fundraising! In the past we have supported such worthy causes as Macmillan Cancer and Dementia UK, with all sorts of mad adventures including going on a trek up Mount Snowdon carrying one

of our heaviest doors! The team have also thrown themselves out of a plane, and held a Warehouse Olympic Games. Over the last 10 years we have raised more than £35,000 and we can’t wait to start our fundraising programme for such a very worthy cause as Burton and District Mind.”

Forterra highlights pre-school road safety

Building products manufacturer Forterra has donated £500 worth of Hi-Vis vests, hats and construction toys to children at Grange Park Pre-School in Northampton.

In the winter months staying safe and visible in the dark while on foot is important, especially for young children, hence Forterra were keen to provide the donation. The pre- school has already used the

items for school trips and to help educate the children about road safety.

Sarah Crofton from Grange Park Pre-School, said: “The children have been so excited by this donation and it is inspiring them to talk about the dangers of vehicles when near a road. They have already used their hi- vis for a trip to the postbox. Stephen Harrison, chief executive of Forterra, said:

Knightsbridge donates £10,000 to DOTS

Dogs on the Street (DOTS) – the charity that supports homeless people with dogs across the UK – has received additional support this New Year thanks to a donation from Knightsbridge. DOTS is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit charity dedicated to supporting dog owners in the homeless community. Homelessness can be an alienating experience for those it affects, and the companionship of a dog can help alleviate some of the pressures that these individuals face on a daily basis. However, veterinary care and feeding can be extremely expensive. Additionally, for the homeless community, temporary accommodation will not always allow animals on to their premises.

The challenge is enormous: it is estimated that up to 75,000 homeless people own dogs. To help meet this great need, DOTS runs weekly services in London, as well as regular services in other major cities in the UK. DOTS has over 700 clients under its care, and also operates a four-acre sanctuary where it cares for over 50 animals

currently separated from their owners owing to illness, temporary accommodation issues or other circumstances.

Knightsbridge, a manufacturer of lighting and wiring devices, is closely aligned with homelessness charities and is donating £10,000 from its December Weatherproof range sales to DOTS. The donation will help support DOTS’s fully equipped mobile veterinary surgery plus the provision of essential items such as medicines and food.

“We hope our donation will start conversations about the importance of road safety and promote key messages on how to keep safe. We also hope they will enjoy the construction themed toys!

“We aspire to make a positive difference in the local community wherever we can, in this instance we hope they are able to learn early valuable lessons, especially for children

who will soon start walking to and from school.”
