MERCHANT FOCUS: BENCHMARX

Wise says: “With this relocation, it brings Benchmarx into the heart of the Travis Perkins branch. It means tradespeople can access kitchen design support, products and their basic building materials all in one place.” Benchmarx Kitchens & Joinery also opened its doors in Glasgow for the very first time with a new showroom on Helen Street, also part of a new Travis Perkins branch.

From its first contract with Croydon council in 2008, to the beginning of its in-house cabinet manufacturing in 2024, the company has remained a trade-first business, and bringing the offer into the Travis Perkins branches will allow both sides to work closer together as a joint kitchen solution, sharing facilities across their network and customer base.

BETTER TOGETHER

Oliver Stanley finds out how, and why, Benchmarx plans to work more closely with Travis Perkins as the group’s integrated kitchens and joinery specialist.

C

reated some 20 years ago as Travis Perkins’ dedicated kitchen builders’ merchant offering to trade customers, Benchmarx, the trade- only kitchen supplier, has gone through a huge expansion. Having started out with one stand-alone kitchen showroom in Croydon in 2006, the company now has a 134-branch network across the UK.

In the last year, the brand has been moving to highlight itself as Travis Perkins’ integrated kitchens and joinery specialist. “As a proud part of the Travis Perkins Group since day one, our connection to the wider business is central to who we are,” says managing director Rosie Wise. “Many of our 134 showrooms are located right inside Travis Perkins branches, giving tradespeople the ultimate one-stop- shop convenience for both their kitchens and building materials under one roof. Trade customers can use their Travis Perkins account in all Benchmarx branches, and orders can be processed, invoiced and fulfilled from the same location. This has already led to a rise in TP plus signups, the Travis Perkins rewards scheme, same rewards across both and get it all sorted in one trip and one delivery. This offering gives Benchmarx an edge when competing with other kitchen and joinery merchants that Travis Perkins customers may frequent.

Integrated branches Since the start of 2026, a new Benchmarx has been built at Travis Perkins’ Birmingham Central branch on South Road in Hockley, as well as a new showroom on Upper Forest Way in Swansea, now fully integrated within the main Travis Perkins branch following its relocation.

The company aims that by 2030, the branches will also act as consultancy hubs for installers. Awareness of integration has already improved, drawing more business from Travis Perkins, with customers able to benefit from joint invoicing and reward programmes. Its 20th year has also seen Benchmarx introduce a host of new product offerings, including the high-tech additions of Samsung appliances and Quooker boiling water taps. It also recently expanded its offering to stock the full range of CDA products, including Matrix-branded appliances, providing customers with a variety of options when planning their kitchens.

The move follows continued customer demand for CDA’s high-specification appliances, including ovens with a large capacity as standard, which is not commonplace within the market.
