FMB raises over £2,000 for Ukraine humanitarian appeal

Following a fundraising drive, staff at the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), have raised £2,340 in aid of emergency support for the people of Ukraine. The funds will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The FMB, the largest trade body in the UK construction sector, representing small and medium sized building firms, and campaigning for quality in construction, also recognises the work of the Ukrainian League of Masters, an NGO providing high level training for 16,000 specialists in the construction industry.

Brian Berry, chief executive of

the FMB, said: “Colleagues at the FMB have been deeply affected by the horrific consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. They wanted to do their bit to support those whose homes have been damaged, and who have been displaced by the conflict.” “Small builders in the UK are feeling the knock-on consequences of the war which has become another factor in ever rising prices for essential building materials. While the FMB is giving a voice to builders here and helping them to communicate the impacts of inflation with their clients, we also felt strongly that we wanted to do something to help rebuild Ukraine as well.”

about supporting the communities we serve, partnering with a Club that does so much to encourage access to sport – including at a grassroots level – has been a natural fit.”

Tony Rowe OBE, CEO and chairman of Exeter Rugby Club, said: “We are delighted to have Bradfords Building Supplies as one of our key club partners moving into the 2022/23 season. This is a relationship that is now

several years in the making and it continues to deliver for both parties, both on and off the field.”

MKMKing’s Lynn raises

£2,233 for cancer charity The team at MKM King’s Lynn have raised £2,233 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation as tribute to a former branch customer who died of the disease.

The sum was raised via a cake morning and raffle held at the branch, which saw suppliers to the builder’s merchant donate a host of top-quality prizes, including coffee machines, tablets, and vouchers worth up to £200. Raffle tickets were sold by the branch staff ahead of the cake morning to customers, family, and the local community.

A touching nod was even given to the customer whose memory inspired the fundraising, with his daughter baking the cakes sold at the event.

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation was founded in 1990 and is dedicated to everyone affected by the disease, raising millions of pounds for essential lung cancer research.

Andy Goakes, branch director at MKM King’s Lynn, said: “I am so proud of the team here at the branch. What made it such a success was the way the team totally committed and threw themselves into fundraising and selling raffle tickets. Our customers and suppliers have been so generous, donating prizes, buying cakes and tickets. It has been fantastic to see and made our fundraising so successful.”
