Magnet Company Ready for Aerospace

supplier to the aerospace industry. The certification includes all the requirements of ISO9001 plus a great many specific requirements that are mandatory when subcontracting for the aerospace industry. The company attained ISO/TS 16949:2009 certification in 2008 and since that time has been a successful supplier to the automotive industry. Achieving AS9100C certification is the next step in the company’s development as a supplier of magnets and high-quality magnetic systems. Goudsmit supplies the automotive and aerospace industries with permanent magnets and magnetic systems that are used for applications in sensors, actuators and linear drives. Magnets are also indispensable in the medical, greentech and oil & gas industries. The company is particularly strong in the areas of magnetic measurements, quality control and product development.

Are Your Enclosures Ready for the Summer?

A failed electrical device can cause major disruption to production which could cost a company hundreds of thousands of pounds per hour. The cost of catastrophic equipment failure is even higher, because it means an extended period of downtime while replacement products are sourced and fitted. Jason Swann, Rittal’s Product Manager for

Climate advises: “Electrical equipment generates lots of heat. Add to this the ambient heat from the rising summer temperatures and your enclosure will start to reach a critical point of overheating without sufficiecnt cooling. What would you do if the equipment that manages your production line - your PLCs, drives and controls - failed due to inadequate or inappropriate cooling? Can you afford to take the risk.” Inverter drives are used within electrical equipment because they are very effective at reducing the amount of energy used – which means lower production costs. Assuming an efficiency of 97 per cent, a 250kW drive can produce up to 7.5kW of heat, much of which is retained inside the enclosure in which it’s installed. Therefore without adequate cooling heat will rise. The life expectancy of components is

hugely affected by excess heat. An electrical compo-nent’s life expectancy is reduced by 50 per cent for every 10°C increase in the

ambient temperature. So keeping an expensive Inverter drive cool, prelongs its life, reduces the risk of failure and saves you money.

12.3” Wide Format TFT LCD

“Bar Type” or “Letterbox” style TFT LCD panels are becoming increasingly popular, our latest display that fits

into this bracket is our 12.3, 1920 x 720 resolution WUXGA panel. The display is an IPS technology panel which gives the panel an extremely wide viewing cone of 170° left to right and 170° top to bottom. The IPS technology also allows the panel to be viewed in either 6 or 12 o’clock viewing directions without any loss of optical performance. The panel incorporates a long life, high brightness LED backlight, delivering a brightness of 1000 cd/m² plus coupling this with a contrast ratio of 1000:1 makes the panel ideal for a host of applications requiring a good optical performance in high ambient light and full sun. An operating temperature of -30°C ~ 85°C further

enhances the display’s credentials as a TFT LCD suitable for the very demanding automotive and aerospace markets.
