Update from Rainy Day Trust

The Rainy Day Trust Christmas Appeal will be sending out food hampers and vouchers as usual this year - giving people that are struggling that little extra makes a world of difference. But this year, the Trust wants to really deal with the other issues that have become so prevalent in the last 18-24 months – social isolation and worry over electricity and gas bills. The Trust will be offering its ‘Let’s Save Energy’ pack to its long- term beneficiaries as well as working with them to be part of its mental health programmes at what is a really difficult time of year. Bryan Clover, CEO at the Rainy Day Trust, said: “We have set up a Just Giving page as in previous years, but you can also donate directly or send a cheque. You can run a Christmas Jumper Day and get everyone to come to work in a festive jumper and donate to the Charity. Or you could donate some stock for us to sell and raise the money that we need. “The work that we are embarking on now is making an enormous

difference to the people that it touches, and you can be part of that positive impact. Younger people, your customers, are taking ev- er-greater interest in how companies respond to their corporate so- cial responsibility. So why not join in and shout it from the rooftops?”

‘Let’s Save Energy’ campaign The new assistance package is designed to support those in need across our industry. The Trust is calling on suppliers and retailers to encourage colleagues to get in touch if they need help this winter. The campaign will complement the Rainy Day Trust’s annual win- ter fuel aid programme but will take a proactive approach and focus on providing help and advice on ways to reduce energy usage, with the aim of preventing people from getting bogged down with bills they can’t pay. Bryan Clover explains: “What people need is a longer-term solution that helps them to reduce energy usage and, therefore keep energy bills lower permanently. The additional benefit of course, is that by using less energy, you also reduce your carbon footprint, which helps us to hit our own ESG commitment. So, we have developed an assis- tance package designed to do just that.”

Ambiente 2022 is set to serve up dining trends at next year’s event, showcasing everything that makes cooking and household tasks easier and food more enjoyable. The Dining area will extend over

a total of 14 halls, featuring a wide range of lifestyle products for the table, kitchen, leisure, household goods and hospitality. Thomas Kastl, director Ambiente Dining, said: “The focus next February will be on one thing above all: personal encounters. The same applies to the haptic experience of the products. In my view, it is essential in our industry to perceive

textures and colors with your own senses.

“In addition to aesthetically beautiful and trendy products, sustainability with all its facets is now a core global social and economic issue with enormous significance. More and more people are becoming more mindful and critical when shopping, are well informed and ask about the origin, manufacturing conditions and materials of the products on offer.”

Ambiente will take place from 11-15 February, 2022 at Messe Frankfurt.
