ello, and welcome to the joint November/ December issue of
Housewares!
As we close the door on another year of unique challenges, it would be easy to go into 2022 with a negative outlook. With yet another scandal rocking trust in our government, the year ahead does look a bit bleak. However, as Eddingtons’ Roger Murphy commented in his ‘On the Board’ thought piece (page 30), it will be the “individual and collective ingenuity” of the housewares industry that will continue to see us through.
The challenges of the past couple of years have only served to highlight the importance

of home and loved ones, and with consumer demand in the industry remaining solid, the trade has weathered price increases, freight charges, and stock shortages in order to supply its customers. I’m still only a newcomer to this industry, but it’s abundantly clear that this industry is resilient and determined, and will weather the challenges ahead just as it has all those past.
