Ahead of the Game


Howard Bradley, commercial director at Dexam, spoke to Housewares Magazine about how the business is staying ahead of the game, what consumers are looking for in 2023 and its plans for the new year.


Housewares Magazine: What is your role at Dexam? Can you tell us about your background in the industry? Howard Bradley: As commercial director my role, in simple terms, is to ensure that Dexam is profitable so that we can continue to develop and introduce new lines, look after our customers and ultimately make the end users better chefs. Sounds simple but it keeps me busy. Background wise I am housewares through and through (although it was still called Giftware when I started out at T&G Woodware). I had a brief stop off at Fox Run and then I’ve been Dexam for the last 20 years in roles that have included buying, product development and now of course, selling. It’s a great industry with great people so why change?


HM: What will consumers be looking for in their kitchen accessories and utensils? What top trends will emerge in the new year? HB: As always at the beginning of the year people think about eating healthier and better, although this year everybody is focused on reducing their energy bills. In addition, the cost-of-living challenges will result in less eating out with more considered purchases as people make ends meet. The above will mean more home cooking and baking with

better quality longer lasting products. More home cooking also means more tools and gadgets, non-electric where practical, plus specialist accessories as people look to create more ambitious dishes.
