Special award for a lifetime of dedication

Jonathan Brennan was named Lifetime Achievement Award winner to rapturous applause at this year’s HVR Awards, presented by Peter Reid, President of NAADUK.

J

onathan’s career has spanned decades, beginning “on the tools” before rising through the ranks of one of the UK’s leading ventilation

and kitchen extract maintenance companies. His dedication extended far beyond personal success — he has spent much of his professional life helping businesses nationwide understand the vital importance of ventilation hygiene, fire damper inspections and safe kitchen extract systems. Recognising the need for clarity and consistency

in an evolving industry, Jonathan became one of the founding members of NAADUK (National Association of Air Duct Specialists UK). Through his leadership and determination, he played a key role in developing the NAAD-21 and NAAD-22

standards, documents that have brought much- needed structure and professionalism to the sector. Although he has since stepped back from day-

to-day operations to explore more artistic pursuits, Jonathan remains a driving force behind NAADUK publications and standards updates — proving that his passion for raising industry benchmarks is as strong as ever. Jonathan said: “Receiving the HVR Awards

Lifetime Achievement honour is deeply humbling. It marks not just a personal milestone, but a shared journey that began in 2015 with a simple idea: that our industry could do better by working together. That idea became the seed of NAADUK —

a growing association built not on competition, but on collaboration.” Reflecting on NAADUK’s founding principles, he added: “Peter Reid and I rejected the mindset of division and instead chose to unite ductwork professionals, fire brigades, environmental health officers, insurers, universities and innovators around shared standards. This award belongs to every person who gave their time, insight and energy to help raise standards across our sector.” Jonathan concluded by dedicating the award to his peers and collaborators: “I accept this recognition with pride in what we’ve achieved — and hope for what’s still to come. May the journey continue.”
