Hoval opens state-of-the-art ePlant in Slovakia: €60 million commitment to Europe’s heat pump future
I
n August 2025, Hoval inaugurated its new ePlant in Istebné, Slovakia — a €60 million investment that positions the company at
the forefront of Europe’s heat pump market. Planned and built over just two years, the site represents Hoval’s largest production facility and underscores its ambition to take a leading role in the continent’s energy transition. By 2030, the plant is expected to create up to 600 jobs and deliver an annual output of 32,000 heat pumps.
Sustainability built in The ePlant was designed according to Green Factory principles, making sustainability central to both its operations and architecture. Features include a 400 kWp photovoltaic system, rainwater harvesting, green roofs and façades, and energy recovery technology using Hoval’s own plate heat exchangers. A smart building system ensures efficiency across all processes, setting a new benchmark for sustainable industrial design. A European project with global resonance The inauguration attracted high-level
political and business leaders, highlighting the project’s international significance.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called the plant “an important project for our region,” while Deputy Prime Minister Denisa Saková noted its role in strengthening Slovakia’s renewable energy strategy. Liechtenstein Minister of Economy Hubert Büchel praised Hoval for “setting international benchmarks in technology, sustainability, and cooperation.” Richard Senti, Chairman of the Board of Directors
at Hoval Group, emphasised the broader vision: “With the ePlant in Istebné, we are making a clear commitment to the energy transition. This
investment strengthens our position in Europe, creates reliability for our employees, and opens up new perspectives for our customers.”
Looking ahead The Istebné ePlant combines technological innovation with regional value creation. For Hoval, it is not only a production milestone but also a statement of intent: responsibility for energy and the environment begins with tangible investment in a sustainable future.
