Qvantum’s exhaust air heat pumps fit the bill in new-build development
Q
vantum’s award-winning QE exhaust air heat pumps are delivering low-carbon comfort for 76 new-build apartments at The Roundway in Tottenham, North London. The individual QE systems, designed in conjunction with Nick Yankovec of NLY Building Services, are providing energy-efficient heating, hot water and ventilation for the mix of two and three-bedroom apartments without the need for a central plant room.
The QE recovers energy from extracted air while the inverter control automatically adjusts to the comfort demands of the home, thus minimising energy consumption. By using heat from the integrated thermal store, instantaneous hot water production ensures compliance with the industry standard and effectively eliminates the risk of legionella. Meanwhile, the compact design of the units adds a further benefit for residents, with installation in standard appliance cupboards saving valuable internal space.
Bal Padda, sales manager at Qvantum UK, said: “Our QE series is the perfect choice for urban living, where space is at a premium and efficiency demands are high. Choosing our sustainable technology also means the properties are ready for smart grid integration.’’
Owned by Haringey Council, The Roundhouse achieved an EPC rating of A, through innovative renewable features including solar PV. The QE was chosen to complement these measures based on value for money and efficiency when compared with alternatives such as electric panel heaters. The thermal store allows access to electricity when it is cheap, green and plentiful, resulting in genuine peak price shaving for both hot water and heating.

MHIAE launches future-ready ZT RAC Units ready for Summer 2026
M
itsubishi Heavy Industries Air Conditioning
Europe (MHIAE) has introduced its next- generation residential air conditioning range, the ZT Series. Building on the proven performance of the ZS Series, the ZT range has been
re-engineered with a refined design to deliver higher energy efficiency, simplified installation and servicing and low noise operation. The indoor units will be available in three elegant colour options, while the outdoor units will come in two finishes, including the highly sought-after Jet Black. Mass production of the ZT is scheduled for December 2025 and will be available for installation in Summer 2026 projects.
Improved Performance and Efficiency
The ZT indoor units incorporate a newly designed heat exchanger, a high- efficiency fan motor, and an enlarged fan blower diameter, achieving better airflow to deliver a long reach of up to 11m. In addition, the ZT Series offers two silent operation modes - Silent and Ultra Silent. In Ultra Silent mode, sound levels are reduced by up to 9dB achieving noise levels as low as 36 dB(A) while still maintaining the unit’s powerful performance.
Achieving higher SEER and SCOP ratings than the ZS range, the ZT units set a new benchmark for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, ensuring users benefit from reduced energy costs and a lower carbon footprint. The ZT also maintains efficient operation at nominal heating capacity even when outdoor temperatures fall to -10 °C.

Fits right everytime: Zehnder launches EVO for seamless MVHR install in tight spaces
ndoor climate solutions manufacturer, Zehnder Group UK, has unveiled the Zehnder EVO – a Passivhaus certified, ultra-slim machinical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) system designed to overcome installation challenges in confined and challenging spaces.
Featuring a minimalist and intelligent design (approx. 210 mm in depth), the Zehnder EVO is suitable for installation in ceilings, pitched roofs, slimline cupboards, or service voids. The new MVHR is purpose-built to be mounted either on ceilings or walls, horizontally, vertically or at an angle and features flexible bi-directional spigots to ensure smooth air flow at any angle as well as a double- rotating condensate drain so no inclination is required.
Where previously specifiers had viewed indoor environments with significant space constraints as potentially unviable or more challenging for MVHRs, the flexibility and size of the Zehnder EVO changes everything – particularly for offsite-built projects such as POD manufacturing and modular housing. But Zehnder EVO also boasts a market-leading heat recovery efficiency rate of up to 90%, ensuring minimal heat loss and contributing to substantial energy savings for end-users. The system also includes a 100% summer bypass function. Stuart Smith, commercial director at Zehnder Group UK says: “Zehnder EVO is a gamechanger. It will open up the world of MVHR to builds that otherwise would have proved too challenging in terms of size and space. It’s one of the most versatile products in our range – and for its size, still boasts the same high performance as our bigger units.
