The benefi ts of sanitary and above ground drainage training

Greener options: helping installers help customers

Worcester Bosch has launched a new Savvy Series, a video series, to support installers in guiding customers to understand greener heating options.

W

ith the cost of living a huge ongoing topic impacting the lifestyles of millions of UK homeowners, the new content series is part of an extensive push by Worcester Bosch to deliver quality and impactful energy saving tips to

homeowners to help curb the cost of household spend and energy usage. It will also provide much needed guidance for consumers to empower them when it comes to choosing future greener heating systems for their homes. The Savvy Series will be fronted by TV presenter and consumer champion Angellica

Bell, with each video revealing new tips on how homeowners can either save money in the face of skyrocketing household bills or gain a better understanding of greener heating options for their home. The series also simplifi es greener home heating, giving the viewer a better

understanding of the future technology that may be available to them. The home heating solutions covered include hydrogen, heat pumps and hybrid systems. The below topics are available on the Worcester Bosch YouTube channel and its website. ¡ Being the boss of your home heating and saving on energy bills ¡ Getting to grips with hybrids ¡ Hearing about heat pumps ¡ The benefi ts of home air conditioning ¡ Hello to hydrogen Savvy Series presenter Angellica Bell said: “Many of us don’t realise just how energy-

intensive our homes can be, and as a result, how much it can chip away at our fi nances. By making a few quick changes to the way we set-up our homes, it can really make a huge diff erence. I hope the Savvy Series helps homeowners make savings on their energy bills as well as guide them to making greener heating choices.” Martyn Bridges, Worcester Bosch director of technical services, said: “The cost of living crisis shows no signs of stopping, leaving millions of us with rising household bills – and with that, mounting pressures enforcing us to consider cut-backs. “We’re delighted to have Angellica as the face of our Savvy Series. Her involvement

will help us reach more homeowners with both energy-saving tips and the right guidance to help them transition to the greener heating future.” Richard Lloyd, a Cannock-based installer, said: “This series will really support the industry in communicating to customers in new, engaging and simplistic terms not only what the diff erent types of technologies are, but how customers can benefi t from each one. This’ll be a great tool we can reference in our customer communications.”

H

ave you recently enrolled in a training program to update your skills? In today’s constantly changing industry, ongoing training is a valuable way to stay ahead of the game. With evolving

technology and regulations, it’s rare to fi nd a plumber who has nothing left to learn. Therefore, regular training updates are essential. Keeping qualifi cations up-to-date is particularly crucial in areas

like above ground drainage systems. Unfortunately, this fi eld is often overlooked because people wrongly assume it to be a low-level skill. However, the reality is quite the opposite. Above ground drainage problems and misconnections are increasingly relevant in the plumbing world, and over a quarter of a million UK homes may have drainage misconnection issues. Plumbers looking to refresh and update their knowledge of the design and installation of above ground sanitary and rainwater systems should consider training in this area. Basic plumbing applications on plastic waste pipe and rainwater guttering should not be overlooked, as they are the foundation of the profession. Learning should never stop, even after an installer becomes qualifi ed. Continually changing legislation, evolving technology, and challenging sector demands require installers to keep up-to-date. Our Sanitary and Above Ground Drainage Course is an excellent way

to stay one step ahead. The course can be booked via a digital booking form, and the training materials are delivered electronically, making it accessible from anywhere. You can print off the materials at home or view them on a second computer screen or tablet. The end assessment is carried out using Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is available for free download from the Adobe website. In response to the challenges of off ering training and assessment

in a safe environment, we have worked closely with BPEC to ensure that we can deliver training and assessment remotely. Using Microsoft Teams, delegates can log in using a PC or laptop and go through the training for up to 2 hours per day, for up to 4 days. Upon successful completion of the course, delegates can then undertake an online assessment using a blend of long answer and multiple-choice questions and visual exercises. If you’re interested in any of our training courses, including the Sanitary and Above Ground Drainage Course, you can access further information at www.aphc.co.uk/training-courses.
