A guiding hand for HVAC

T

he growing desire to achieve good practice in building ventilation and efficiency means there has never

been a greater need for good guidance. It’s just as well then that our industry bodies are making sure building services professionals have some excellent reference material at their disposal. Last month, BESA completed a trilogy

of free guides designed to help building managers turn their buildings into ‘safe havens’ that protect occupants from airborne contaminants and viruses. Meanwhile, NAADUK celebrated the launch of NAAD21, a guidance document which sets the standard for the ventilation hygiene sector.

CIBSE also launched new guidance on industry definitions on Net Zero which adds to a growing suite of CIBSE guidance on embodied carbon, Net Zero and creating a circular economy practice. These are some examples of the many useful documents that will be welcomed by HVAC professionals as they strive to achieve good practice and compliance. There is more on these on pages 6&7 and at www.heatingandventilating.net This month also look out for features on

Healthcare, AHUs, UFH, security in HVAC and Commercial kitchens.

GET YOUR ENTRIES IN BY JUNE 30 T

he HVR Awards is currently accepting entries for the 2022 event, which will be held live later this year, and entries close on June 30.

Get your submissions ready

With an all-encompassing array of categories from Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Product of the Year, to Commercial/Industrial Heating Product of the Year, Wholesaler/Distributor of the Year and beyond, there will be a category for all HVAC businesses to enter.

Make sure to look out for a few new categories

this year. Firstly, to account for the demand from the domestic heating and ventilation sectors, we are introducing both a Domestic Heating Product and a Domestic Ventilation Product of the Year. These two awards are open to the most innovative heating or ventilation solutions available to the domestic market that are available for the UK market. The HVR Awards will also reward the most

promising Apprentice of the Year Award to offer incentive to the industry’s skills drive. Some of last year’s hotly contested awards are

returning. Most notably is the Heat Pump Product of the Year recognising innovation in the world of heat pumps which are set to play such a significant role in the decarbonisation drive.

The Collaboration Award recognises examples of team work that has delivered outstanding results on an HVAC project. The award is open to HVAC manufacturers working in collaboration with contractors or consulting engineers. Finally, the HVR Awards are reinstating the Net

Zero Hero Award which will go to the company that has made a significant contribution to introducing low carbon technology to a commercial/residential building leading to the reduction of carbon emissions. Entries for this year’s scheme are now open, so

now is the time to start preparing your submissions and gathering supporting documents to put yourself in the pole position. To enter, go to www.hvrawards.com/enter For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Sharon Holloway at sholloway@datateam.co.uk
