ALTECNIC Altecnic, supplier of hydronic solutions and part

of the Caleffi Group, has unveiled its latest product brochure debuting 146 new product ranges, as well as a shift in focus to sustainable heating through the introduction of a heat pump focussed section. Altecnic offers more than 5,000 domestic and commercial products and 146 of these are featured for the first time in the 2022/23 brochure, which can be downloaded from the Altecnic website.

Gary Perry, managing director at Altecnic, commented: “As we look to the future, we want to ensure our customers are equipped with sustainable solutions. So, with the introduction of a heat pump focussed section, Altecnic now provides well rounded support for these systems. We have also included energy efficiency ratings for some of our key products to assure customers and installers that they are taking the right steps towards Net Zero when they install Altecnic products.”

CONDAIR

Condair is launching the Condair DC-N, a condensing dehumidifier with an external condenser unit that can dry an area without the risk of overheating. Traditional condensing dehumidifiers introduce heat to a room from their built-in condensers when they dry the air. The Condair DC-N’s external condenser allows the heat generated during drying to be remotely exhausted, similar to a split air conditioner. This makes it much easier to manage the temperature of a room that is being dehumidified. Dave Marshall-George, sales director at Condair commented: “When the room is cold and below the required temperature, the Condair DC-N on-board condenser introduces heat as well as drying the air. Then when the room’s temperature set point is reached, the remote condenser activates, ejecting the heat externally rather than into the room. This allows a room to remain sealed, therefore providing efficient drying, whilst achieving the ideal internal temperature and humidity.” www.condair.co.uk

CARRIER

Carrier chillers operating on the lower GWP refrigerant R-32 have been selected to provide energy-efficient cooling for three medical science laboratories at Oxford University. Four Carrier AquaSnap 30RBP air-cooled scroll chillers with Greenspeed intelligence have been installed at the Henry Wellcome Building for Genomic Medicine, the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital, and the University’s Old Road Campus Research Building, a leading institution in cancer research. Edward Heaton of building services consultant Heaton Design and Engineering, said: “We proposed a Carrier solution based on the efficiency and proven reliability and our excellent working relationship with the company. Carrier’s design and engineering is first-class, and a good match for the University’s sustainability requirements.” The chillers were specified in accordance with Oxford University’s sustainability strategy of achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2035.

IDEAL HEATING

Ideal Heating is soon to launch the ECOMOD range of commercial heat pumps (ASHP). These monobloc ASHPs have been developed to meet the changing commercial heating market needs and offer highly efficient COP performance with low environmental impact, by using R32 refrigerant. The ECOMOD range will be available in six outputs from 14kW through to 70kW. Built with larger buildings in mind they can cascade up to seven units – from an external controller – for an output of up to 490kW. Compact and lightweight for ease of delivery and installation; hybrid and Bi-valent compatible, they provide a hassle-free and simple solution for today’s evolving heating strategy.

‘’We have a product that far exceeds what is presently accepted in the commercial marketplace. These units have a very low starting current, which will create opportunities for installations that would have struggled to utilise a larger heat pump solution,” said Jason Allen, Ideal Heating commercial heat pump product manager. idealcommercialboilers.com/products/ecomod

CIAT

Three modular ClimaCIAT Air Handling Units (AHUs), equipped with high-grade filters to help support indoor air quality, will maintain year-round climate conditions for the nine-storey Crawley Borough Council’s Civic Centre.

The centre includes a 41,000 square foot town hall with a double-height reception area and 77,000 square feet of commercial office space. CIAT’s innovative ClimaCIAT AHUs are all Eurovent certified, meeting the latest efficiency and performance requirements under Ecodesign Directive regulations. The AHUs are equipped with an advanced intelligent electronic control system, enabling them to be connected to building management systems to optimise performance and efficiency.

This includes fine control of temperature and humidity levels and the management of fans, filter fouling levels and heat exchange coils. The control system is fully integrated into each unit, including wiring and sensors, and can be easily selected and configured using the dedicated software and tools. www.ciat.uk.com

STUART TURNER

Stuart Turner’s range of Aquaboost Booster sets have been installed in a £1.5 million three-storey Edwardian renovation on the east coast of England.

Following a site evaluation, a suitable design and specification was agreed that would fulfil the clients’ requirements. The design incorporated an Aquaboost twin pump booster set with two Aquastor 500 litre indirect cylinders capable of delivering 150 litres per minute at 4 bar. The combination of the Aquaboost set and Aquastor cylinders offers a powerful yet easy to manage solution, promising future-proofed results. ‘During the refurbishment of Latimer House it became clear the incoming water supply was not sufficient to meet maximum flow demands across seven bathrooms over three floors. Combined with cold water storage our Stuart Turner booster set ensures the performance of all showers is maintained regardless of demand.’
