BOILERMAG
Leeds-based Elm Facilities Management (Elm FM) chose BoilerMag to protect the newly installed heating system of a North Yorkshire primary school.
Isaac Wilkinson, general manager at Elm FM explained: “Something our engineers have seen lots of over the years, are systems installed by others where the boilers fail prematurely due to LTHW water quality and corrosion of the boiler heat exchangers. We see heating water discoloured, with sludge affecting efficiency and performance of the system pumps and/or in extreme cases, causing pipework to clog up and radiators to stop heating up properly. We recommend as many stages of protection as possible, including using a BoilerMag for that higher level of protection.” Boilermag XT prevents the build-up of ferrous oxide in central heating systems, reducing energy bills, increasing boiler life, and reducing maintenance call outs. Utilising its high-performance flow technology, the BoilerMag XT ensures that virtually all of unwanted debris is removed from the system.

CIAT
ASDA is installing high-efficiency CIAT VECTIOS packaged rooftop cooling units as part of a rolling programme of equipment replacement across its UK estate.
The units, supplied by CIAT distributor Cool Designs, offer excellent energy efficiency, exceeding the latest EU Ecodesign requirements for seasonal efficiency (SEER > 3.53 and SCOP >3.20), and delivering up to 37% energy savings compared with EU Tier 1 efficiency requirements. VECTIOS units consist of an autonomous, horizontal rooftop package, based on tandem-scroll hermetic compressors for quiet operation and reliability. Sited on a store’s rooftop, the units connect directly to the building’s air distribution ductwork without the need for additional components, pipes or cables, freeing up valuable ground space. “VECTIOS is an excellent solution for end users looking for a high- efficiency, reliable rooftop unit that operates with low noise,’ said Andy Gill, regional sales manager, Cool Designs.

ESI
A specialist in the heating controls sector in the UK – ESi – has seen its controls specified for a landmark development in the centre of Birmingham. 481 of ESi’s ESRTP4 wired programmable room thermostats adorn the walls of the apartments in the new tower. The ESRTP4 is an easy to install- and-use 7 day, 5/2 or 24hr programmable room thermostat which offers up to six time and temperature changes each day with different programmes for weekdays and weekends. The ESRTP4 has all the energy savings features such as TPI, Delayed Start and Optimum Stop and the all-important Landlord Service Interval.
The ESRTP4 has a large, easy-to-read blue backlit LCD display. It is easy to programme and operate because of the built-in programme options that the user can easily change to suit individual heating requirements. Daniel Jenkins is ESi’s national specification manager: “We’re delighted that our controls have been specified for this prestigious project – the tallest residential building in Birmingham.

MODUTHERM
Modutherm has launched the MTA PLUS – a high performance heat interface unit (HIU) designed for use in 4th generation low temperature heat networks that utilise heat pumps or boilers.
The MTA PLUS is an indirect HIU featuring two high performance SWEP LAS heat exchangers. These allow the unit to deliver impressive outputs from a low temperature energy source, offering DHW up to 75kW and heating up to 10kW. The use of LAS heat exchangers also ensures return temperatures from the MTA PLUS remain low and do not exceed 25˚C. This helps to deliver high network efficiencies, while conforming to the CIBSE CP1 2020 Heat Networks Code of Practice. Ian Bradley, Modutherm managing director, said: “Consultants have been specifying HIUs in commercial systems for decades, but with boilers becoming less common, the industry needs to adapt to lower temperature energy sources, such as heat pumps. As a result, we have created the MTA PLUS.”
