All about humidity in January
I
n the winter, humidity control is always given top priority in homes and businesses. It’s crucial in businesses to
keep employees comfortable, safe, and healthy as well as to encourage energy efficiency, safeguard equipment, and preserve important assets. When central heating lowers humidity in homes, it can also affect our health, in particular when it comes to the skin, eyes or the respiratory system. At HVR we recognise that January can be one of the worst months for some of these issues to manifest so it’s important to shine a light on some of the solutions aimed at maintaining relative humidity. With a particular focus on commercial buildings, our feature tackles the subject from different angles. We start on pg 10, with Condair outlining the main types of humidifier on the market. while on pg 12 Humidity Solutions explains the benefits of customising an industrial humidification system in facilities which have multiple uses. On pg 14 Vaisala looks at the role of dew point sensors in battery manufacture while on pg 15 Dristeem focuses on cutting energy use and humidifier maintenance. Also don’t miss our new feature on Net
Zero Systems & Solutions from pg 16. Heathe Ramsden, Edito

Compact heat pump solution – redifining design and efficiency
I
n an era of rapid urbanisation and the growing popularity of minimalist lifestyles, the demand for home solutions that effortlessly blend functionality, efficiency, and aesthetic design has reached an all- time high. Recognising these trends, progressive companies are leading the way by investing in low carbon, space-efficient heating systems that address the challenges of modern domestic environments. One of these companies is the Swedish clean
energy-tech brand, Aira. Its product portfolio has recently expanded to include one of the slimmest indoor units on the market. Paired with an outdoor units said to be four times more efficient than a gas boiler, more homes will now be able to benefit from lower carbon emissions and greater cost savings. The company says that by offering more compact solutions and increasing accessibility with affordable monthly payment plans, homeowners will be empowered to adopt sustainable, stylish, and efficient technologies without compromising on space, design preferences or cost savings.
The new Indoor Unit Compact is said to combine
versatility, efficiency, and Scandi aesthetic appeal in a space-saving package, meeting both heating and hot water needs without compromising on performance. It represents a thoughtful response to the growing demand for practical, sustainable, and user-friendly heating solutions in modern homes. At just W40 x D25 x H72 cm, the solution is one of the slimmest indoor heating units available and pairs with all sizes of the outdoor units, which are available in 6kw, 8kw and 12kw. Its compact size makes it suitable for modern homes, where efficient use of interior space is paramount. Whether tucked
into a utility cabinet, positioned in a kitchen corner, or placed in a garage, compact units are designed to adapt seamlessly to various domestic layouts. To increase flexibility, the Indoor Unit Compact heat pump system features a separate hot water cylinder that comes in sizes ranging from 150L to 300L. This modular approach ensures it meets the needs of households large and small, accommodating up to six people with ease. The intelligent Aira Heat Pump uses the air outside and together with a bit of electricity, turns that into a cleaner and more energy-efficient way to heat your home. The company says, over the product lifetime, heat pump owners can expect to save 25% on heating costs and by combining their heat pump with Aira Zero, the integrated clean energy tariff, they can save up to £560 a year on their annual energy bills.
