Digital makes showering an ‘experience’
A
s the digital age progresses, consumer desire remains at
the forefront of developers’ minds as we witness a continual churn of innovation and enhanced experiences. So often in this process, the importance of the installer is a requirement which seldom needs to be factored. However, with digital showers, when hardware and smart technology combine, the experience of the installer fitting these products is equally as important as the customer.
An installer survey
conducted by Mira revealed ease and speed of installation of digital showers were the
standout features, and those most likely to encourage installers to recommend them.
Digital mixing valves allow enormous flexibility in installation and can be sited in various locations; the attic, airing cupboard or even under a bath (providing it’s accessible for maintenance).
When opting for bath fill variants, these are available with the second outlet as a combined overflow and bath fill fitting, providing flexibility. The app-enabled Mira Mode incorporates up to 10 pre-sets, enabling users to run the perfect depth and temperature bath using a smartphone, allowing inclusivity for small children via safe, thermostatically controlled bathing solutions.
The digital showers feature the choice of valve platform for high and low-pressure systems, so ageing systems are not excluded and offer a solution for gravity-fed systems providing thermostatic mixer and pump combined. Push- fit isolation valves and fittings are supplied for connection to the valve, as well as easily accessible filters for ease of maintenance. Since digital showers only require a 3 amp power supply, they can be installed to a fused spur or plug top (if installed in a zone which allows this). For those unfamiliar with digital showers, they’re similar to mixer showers – taking hot and cold-water supplies and blending them together for the perfect temperature. For user safety, a thermistor monitors temperature, which feeds back to the mixing valve PCB, ensuring a stable and comfortable showering

temperature; rather like a typical mixer shower, which shuts off the flow of water in the event of cold supply failure. There’s never been a better combination of smart technology to provide safety and comfort.
Perhaps the greatest
offering to installers is the range of fitting options available. Most digital shower fittings can be rear or ceiling fed, offering flexible solutions to suit all tastes, and feature push-fit connections for ease and speed of installation. User controls are available in hard wired and wireless options, allowing flexibility for a range of installation configurations.
As well as the eco-friendly and sustainable advantages, some digital showers have been designed to be inclusive, addressing the needs of less able users. The Mira Vision, for example, is available as a “Flex” version with a longer slide rail, for wheelchair users, allowing independent showering, while the height of the hand shower can be adjusted for other users.
Installation is made easy with a YouTube step-by-step guide, troubleshooting via app and, comprehensive instructions supplied. Digital showers not only offer benefits to installers, but app technology, spray experiences and presets offer added bonuses for consumers.
