BOILER INNOVATION PROTECTS VULNERABLE TENANTS

ometimes, encouraging vulnerable tenants to allow a service engineer in to service their boilers can be a difficult feat, but a new feature with Potterton’s new

range of boilers may be just the right solution. Potterton’s new Assure range of combi, system and heat

only boilers is designed based on working together with over 50 local authorities, housing associations and contractors and has been created specifically for the social housing sector. With extra focus given to simplifying the installation

process, the Assure range has a light lift weight of 29kg and is compact enough to fit into a standard kitchen cupboard. It also benefits from an optimised pipe layout, ensuring the

boilers can be hung quickly in place, and has a full void at the rear, allowing pipes to be easily run up the back of the appliance. Straightforward access to all components is assured, for ease of service and maintenance. There are also a few extra features, one of which enables the installer to select and fix the correct levels of heating and hot water comfort for vulnerable tenants, which cannot then be altered by mistake. Research by Potterton revealed that looking after

vulnerable tenants was just as important to the above groups as gaining access to carry out service checks and there was a

desire to encourage reluctant tenants to allow service engineers to gain access to their properties. The new feature on the Assure range, which is clipped into the appliance on a ribbon cable in seconds, will, after 11 months, turn down the flow temperature coming out of the boiler so that it affects both the heating and hot water, thereby encouraging the tenants to seek assistance. The Assure range is available as a combi, with outputs of

25kW and 30kW, system, with outputs of 15kW and 18kW, and heat only offering outputs from 13kW to 30kW there’s a model to suit most property sizes. Bill Jones, sales director at Potterton, said: “By involving over 50 housing associations, with a combined portfolio of 250,000 properties, in the design process, we’ve created a range of boilers that answers the needs of the social housing market. “Our customers asked us to help speed up installation and maintenance, protect vulnerable tenants and find a way to support annual servicing. Well, specifiers can rest assured that this range ticks every box.” The Assure range comes with a two-year warranty, as well as access to customer support and technical guidance from Potterton’s expert customer service team, and its nationwide network of Gas Safe Registered engineers.
