ENERGY MINISTER OPENS NEW ZERO EMISSIONS BOILER FACILITY

I

n another step towards decarbonising the UK’s domestic heating, tepeo, a specialist in heat batteries, has opened an additional manufacturing

facility, allowing the company to expand its operations. Lord Callanan, Minister for Energy Effi ciency and Green Finance, offi cially presided over the opening, lauding the company’s success and continued growth. In just over a year, the tepeo team has doubled in

size. As the British manufacturer grows, it continues to create new opportunities in the green sector for engineers and innovators. The successful expansion with its new facility will not only increase the number of zero emissions ZEBs produced but also provide a new home for some of tepeo’s growing team.

The additional offi ces will further support British

innovation, as the new facility has allocated space for research & development and production. It

also provides engineers with a space to innovate and create more advanced and accessible ways to decarbonise the UK’s domestic heating. With oil and gas boilers due to be phased out

by 2035, the demand for alternatives will grow and become imperative. The decision to open and operate an additional facility is driven by the need to meet the growing demand for the ZEB and ensure the company can continue to deliver a substantial

contribution to the Net Zero targets the UK needs to meet to decarbonise the domestic heating sector. Johan du Plessis, founder and chief executive of

tepeo, said: “Our mission is to become leaders in low-carbon heating solutions. We need to increase our manufacturing capacity to build more of our Smart Heat Batteries to achieve this. The expansion is not just a success story for the

company but a promising development for British manufacturing. Opening our new facility refl ects the increasing demand for low-carbon home heating technology. It is a tangible sign of what the future will hold for tepeo and how we think about home heating.”

Speaking on the opening, Lord Callanan said: “The UK is a world leader in decarbonising, becoming the fi rst major economy to halve its emissions between 1990 and 2022. Reducing carbon emissions from our homes is key to helping us push further and support families towards Net Zero. It gives me great pride to see British manufactured technology, like tepeo’s heat batteries, contributing to our mission and giving consumers a greater choice in switching from fossil fuels to cleaner, greener heating.”

HVAC & REFRIGERATION LIVE RETURNS TO EXCEL LONDON IN 2025

H T

VAC & Refrigeration Live (HVACR Live) is back for 2025, scheduled for 9 and 10 April at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in

London. This biennial event serves as the UK’s only dedicated national exhibition for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration sectors. HVACR Live has already secured the participation of industry players, including Sanha UK, Infi con and Armacell UK.

“We’ve listened closely to industry feedback, and the market clearly values the HVAC & Refrigeration Live show’s traditional two-year cycle,” said Tony Patman, event manager for HVACR Live. “We’ve also received over 40 exhibitor enquiries so far, with that number expected to rise signifi cantly in the coming weeks.”

The 2025 show will benefi t from the continued support of leading HVACR publications such as ACR News, Heating & Ventilation Review, and Energy in

Buildings & Industry. Additionally, the organisers plan to signifi cantly expand the event’s social media presence. Those interested in learning more about HVACR

Live 2025, including exhibitor opportunities, can contact Tony on TPatman@datateam.co.uk

FETA CELEBRATES INAUGURAL WORLD HUMIDITY CONTROL DAY

he Humidity Control Group, a specialist group within the HEVAC trade association and part of the Federation of Environmental Trade

Associations (FETA), celebrated the inaugural ‘World Humidity Control Day’ 12 March 2024. World Humidity Control Day commemorates the visionary John Frederick Daniell. Born on March 12, 1790, Daniell was an English chemist and physicist who, in 1820, invented a dew-point hygrometer - a device that indicates atmospheric humidity - which then came into widespread use. Humidity control is important for several reasons.

6 April 2024

High humidity levels can lead to discomfort, making the air feel heavy and causing excessive sweating, whilst low humidity levels can cause dryness in the air, which can lead to respiratory issues, dry skin, and irritation of the eyes and throat. Humidity control is therefore used to maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor environment. In establishing a World Humidity Control Day, the Humidity Control Group aims to raise awareness of this important subject and the impact it has on our daily lives and the buildings we live and work in. As well as developing a World Humidity Control Day logo, the Humidity Control Group has created a website

dedicated to the newly formed offi cial day. The website features detailed information on why humidity control is so important and can be found at www. worldhumiditycontrolday.co.uk John Barker, Chairman of the Humidity Control

Group, commented: “World Humidity Control Day gives us the perfect platform to raise the profi le of humidity control whilst recognising the achievements of John Frederick Daniell. By improving education and awareness we can better promote the many benefi ts of maintaining optimum humidity levels in the buildings we live and work in.”
