Chase Plastics awarded RecyClass accreditation
The RecyClass audit scheme, which comprehensively examines the process to ensure recycling operations are environmentally sound, is aligned with the EN 15343:2007 and ISO 22095:2020 standards. Chase Plastics previously held EUCertPlast accreditation prior to both audit schemes being combined. Operating from a factory in Brandon, Suffolk, Chase Plastics manufactures the RECOTHENE range of recycled plastic pellets from recycled polyethylene. RECOTHENE rPE is used in the production of a variety of plastic products across the UK manufacturing supply chain. Speaking of the accreditation, David Harris, CEO at Chase Plastics
said: “RecyClass ensures that customers using RECOTHENE can prove the origin of the recycled content within their products and demonstrate their compliance with the UK Plastics Packaging Tax. Plastic packaging produced using RECOTHENE now offers a clear advantage compared to low cost imports which cannot back up their recycled content claims.” For more information visit:

OPRL welcomes PackUK RAM roadmap
OPRL described the 2025-2030 roadmap as a valuable tool for brands navigating the complexity of packaging EPR. Alice Harlock, director of technical and member services at OPRL, said: “Mapping out key dates and focus areas will be really useful in helping to set realistic expectations for our members. It also emphasises the scale of the work to be undertaken by the RAM technical advisory committee.” The roadmap provides a strategic overview of RAM development, including specifi c material reviews over the next fi ve years. Harlock added: “PackUK’s outline will underpin OPRL’s advice to members using our recyclability assessment tool, but we hope that it will also inform any planned investment by brands. For example, awareness of a planned review of some of the elements removed in RAM V1.1, such as food contamination and PET and PE trays, will help producers decide the best time to make packaging decisions.” OPRL has also seen a high level of queries around fi bre-based composites (FBCs), fl exible plastics and defi nitions.
