Less waste, more transparency: ELSIS ensures highest product quality
Q
uality requirements for production on moving webs have increased in many industries – including the converting and packaging industry. Without
camera-based inspection, continuous monitoring of the material surface can hardly be ensured. The goal is 100 per cent inspection to detect production deviations early and minimise waste.
CORE FUNCTIONS: DETECT, CLASSIFY, ALERT Erhardt+Leimer’s surface inspection system ELSIS uses highly sensitive line scan cameras that detect deviations, mark them and alert the operator immediately if a defect is recognised. Defects are organised into classes and can be evaluated in detail, thanks to extensive data collection. The automated control of signaling devices such as lamps, horns and marking units and even the complete machine control can be implemented using the flexible ELSIS I/O control system. For a fast, reproducible setup, ELSIS works with recipes:
industry-typical templates are available and can be expanded or optimised.
PROJECT PLANNING AND SCALING Every ELSIS system is specifically planned for the customer. From consultation and integration through to aftercare, E+L experts ensure that the system is matched precisely to customer requirements. Sample examinations in test laboratories, including a feasibility report based on individual defect samples, support the system design. If higher resolution requirements arise later, ELSIS can be expanded easily by adding cameras or camera lines.
USER INTERFACE, LOGGING AND TRACEABILITY
The user interface combines production data, inspection status, reel logs, defect images and classification information in a straightforward panel. A configurable log view supports analysis of
defect distribution and frequency. For complaints, ELSIS logs inspection processes for 100 per cent traceability and provides statistical functions. Integration into the customer’s network is also supported.
LIGHTING AS A SUCCESS FACTOR Lighting is a key success factor: the type of lighting, lighting color, intensity and angle determine defect visibility. ELSIS uses LED light transmitters with high illuminance and a modular design. Temperature monitoring ensures stable conditions, and the lighting profile can be adjusted via Ethernet.
