www.vendtra.com Survey reveals unattended retail trends
A recent survey by the Suresite Group has revealed some compelling trends in unattended retail along with some invaluable insights into consumer demand within the world of vending. Nick Horne, chief commercial officer said: “We
found that over 40% of respondents prefer using vending machines to save time and effort. This preference is particularly pronounced among younger demographics, with just over 50% of individuals aged 25-34 opting for rapid retail solutions. This underscores the importance of quick and easy access to products in today’s fast- paced world. “We also found consumers appreciate the
variety and consistent availability of products offered by vending machines. This aligns particularly well with the modern lifestyle where convenience is paramount. Vending machines have adapted by offering a broader range of options, including plant-based and vegan snacks, catering to the growing number of health- conscious consumers. “Our survey also highlights that tech-savvy consumers, especially those in larger cities like
London and Birmingham, are more inclined towards using unattended retail. For instance, 39% of Londoners favour this mode of shopping. The integration of advanced technology such as touchless interfaces and cashless payment systems has enhanced the appeal of vending machines, making them a preferred choice for the tech-savvy. “This trend is expected to grow, driving further
adoption of unattended retail solutions. The convenience and security of cashless transactions make them a key factor in the continued expansion of the vending machine market. Our 2024 vending survey is due for release in September, and we anticipate the findings will lean further still into the use of unattended retail. We predict the unattended retail market is poised for significant growth, driven by the demand for convenience, efficiency, and safety.”
Nothing beats a proper cuppa for plumbers
Overall, the average UK plumber drinks an average of 2.4 cups each day, which adds up to a staggering 360,000 cups of tea a day across the entire country. The survey was carried out as part of plumbing supplier Wavin’s State of the Nation project, which asks plumbers about their view of the trade and experience in it. When looking at the regional splits, plumbers
in the South West came out as the top tea drinkers, putting away an average of 2.79 cups each day, quickly followed by those in the North East (2.78) then the South East (2.63). At the other end of the scale, it was Northern Irish plumbers who drank the least amount, having just 2 per day.
