Jo Harris, vendor finance sales director – Siemens Financial Services sees The Vendies as one of themost important annual events for the industry. Here she reveals why, and also gives a taste of what’s to come from Siemens in the near future.
WHAT DOES SIEMENS LIKE ABOUT THE VENDI All industries that exhibit innovation and entrepren celebrate and recognise those successes – and the
vending sector is eurialism should ES?
no exception.Over the years The Vendies has developed into a widely respected event that distinguishes and encourages pioneering businesses in the industry. That’s not just important for the winners, it’s also important for the whole industry – the more we recognise good practice, the more we encourage it across the board. Basically, The Vendies is a really important showcase for excellence, and promoter of further achievements in the future.
WHY ARE YOU SPONSORING ‘BEST PAYMENT SYSTEM’? Vending systems should ffoffer a standard of excellence, reliability and convenience in every aspect. Payment systems are a critical part of that functionality – especially in a world of increasingly multi- modal transaction
methods.Offering excellent pro technical functionality can all be undermined if the

by similar payment systems capabilities that enhance the overall customer experience. That’s why we think it is appropriate for Siemens Financial Services – which provides excellence at the sales finance level – to be supporting excellence at the equipment payment systems level. With the increasing demands for time saving and efffficiency from products and services for the vending sector we are proud to be involved as a key award sponsor for this category.
WHY SHOULD THE INDUSTRY GET INVOLVED BY ENTERING, VOTING AND ATTENDING?
LV
The Vendies is not just about nominees and winners – it’s about communicating that excellence to the outside world. Nominating colleagues or companies is an important part of supporting and endorsing the people that make up our diverse vending community – so it’s up to everyone in the sector to take the initiative and make the effffort to highlight excellence that has really made a difference to their businesses and growth ambitions. It is equally important for those who attend the awards ceremony as it also offers a platform and opportunity for engaging with other vending professionals. This is key for exchanging ideas and knowledge, and for building a strong network.

high levels of product innovation, sales skills and customer service from all key players mean that healthy competition is still a hallmark of the sector. Digitalisation is certainly starting to have an impact on the vending industry, opening the doors to remote fleet and stock management, digital wallets and many other exciting possibilities. That’s why we’re seeing advanced functionality gaining ground, with examples such as reverse vending, auto-refill and cashless vending. No doubt the innovative moves that characterise the sector over the last 12 months will be richly reflected in The Vendies nomination s and winners.
