News | Industry Updates Partners in food to go
Four key players in the vending industry have formed a partnership to offer integrated food to go solutions across the retail and foodservice sector. The four companies, Kepak, Nebrak, 365
Retail Markets and Coffetek addressed members of the vending industry at a gala event in London last month on their plans which only a year ago were in their infancy. The COVID-19 pandemic, a catalyst for
the collaboration, has seen a surge in demand for micro markets and unattended retail solutions as suitable alternatives to cafeterias and office canteens. They offer customers the opportunity to choose and pay for pre-prepared food without interacting with an attendant. Representatives of all four companies including Carl Hunter of Kepak, Paul Howard of Nebrak, Ian Johnston of Coffetek and Jeff Veres of 365 Retail Markets explained the collaboration and why micro markets and unattended retail solutions will be key for the future. Jeff Veres, of product solutions specialist
365 Retail said: “During COVID there has been a surge in unattended retail. Canteens
V
have been swapped out. When people are not able to leave (their workplace) that is what we call a captive audience and that is the bread and butter of micro markets. For our business, we see this as a way forward.” Paul Howard of Nebrak, said: “Vending
and retail have evolved. There is so much that can be done to drive traffic to a break out area. Costa and Starbucks have been
doing this for years and we need, as a group, to wake up and smell the coffee. We can have a great looking area looking how it is supposed to look. “People will go to the destination points,
or refreshment zones, to get their drinks and enjoy them. When you get it to look right, the drink tastes better because you buy with your eyes.”
