Cadbury announces new hot chocolate vending blend


Cadbury, the UK’s number one hot chocolate brand1, is bringing vending operators a delicious new improved recipe for its popular vending and dispense blend. The new product is available now to operators in a 1kg dispense bag.


For nearly 200 years, since John Cadbury opened a grocer’s shop in Birmingham in 1824, Cadbury has been making hot chocolate. Today Cadbury is the nation’s favourite hot chocolate brand, continuing to grow its share of the hot chocolate market in 20202.


The hot chocolate category is


growing ahead of tea and coffee3 and is in growth in foodservice4 as the third most popular choice of drink in coffee shops and cafes5. Latest category insight shows that 73%6 of consumers prefer to buy branded hot chocolate and are prepared to pay more for branded offers7. We have also seen a general gravitation to brands in the last 6 months across many categories in these uncertain times.

Vending represents a quarter of all hot chocolate foodservice sales and Mondelēz, owner of the Cadbury brand, is the number one supplier of hot chocolate in foodservice8 . Consumers select the hot chocolate


they buy based on taste and quality. They choose hot chocolate for a little indulgence and luxury during the day or for a quick boost, reward or


behavioural ritual. For all these reasons it’s really important that operators offer a hot chocolate that is branded and delivers a great taste.

The new Cadbury blend for vending has been thoroughly tested with a sensory panel and the blend has just the right level of sweetness with classic chocolatey notes. In addition, the new blend from Cadbury


is only 77 calories per serve9 and contains cocoa sourced through Cocoa Life, in partnership with Fairtrade foundation. This is a Mondelez programme which works to improve the lives of farmers and their families in cocoa-farming communities.
