Embracing New Horizons: A Vision for REPIC’s Future
Graeme Milne stepped in his new role as Chief Executive of REPIC, the UK’s largest Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) producer compliance scheme on 1st April 2024. Graeme’s deep understanding of the sector and extensive experience made him the natural choice to lead REPIC into its next chapter of success.

s someone who has dedicated most of his career to advancing excellence in
waste management, Graeme’s appointment heralds a new era of opportunity and growth for REPIC, whose board members include representatives from distinguished producers such as Hoover, Beko, BSH and Whirlpool.
Challenges and opportunities With a firm grasp on the challenges and opportunities facing the industry, he’s ready to steer the company forward into a new era of growth and innovation; while remaining committed to upholding the company’s values of Collaboration, Expertise and Respect. REPIC Chief Executive, Graeme Milne, shared his first priorities in the new role: “As the latest custodian of REPIC, I am honoured to celebrate REPIC’s 20th anniversary this year. Two decades of dedication to excellence in Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling on behalf of our producer members is a milestone worth commemorating.
20th Anniversary announcement “To mark this occasion, I am thrilled to announce an exciting event that the REPIC team, alongside key partners, will be undertaking in June. This year, we are embarking on an extraordinary nine day cycling expedition from our headquarters in Bury to the birthplace of the WEEE European legislation, Brussels. This symbolic journey will serve as a tribute to the milestones we’ve achieved as a team with our producer members, and a chance to reflect on the progress made towards a circular economy over the two decades. “The WEEE Cycle Network event we held last Summer was a lot of fun and a tremendous success; focusing on the collective efforts of a wide range of people and organisations, visiting key locations that have contributed to the achievements of the sector over the past 15 years.

“To remain at the forefront of sustainable WEEE management practices, we must remain agile; shape and adapt to regulatory change and evolving industry standards. The WEEE Consultation presented a myriad of opportunities and I’m keen to explore what innovative solutions and growth opportunities the new regulations can fuel.”

This time, the focus is very much on celebrating the collective efforts, dedication and excellence of every member of team REPIC. Along the route, the REPIC staff will be joined by invited guests, symbolising the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie that has fuelled our success over the past 20 years.” In addition to commemorating the WEEE
producer compliance scheme’s 20th anniversary, Graeme also outlined his priorities for advancing REPIC’s future. “Central to our strategy is a focus on growth, both in terms of enhancing our market presence and service offerings. As the demand for expertise and services to help businesses reduce their impact on the environment and society continues to rise, we aim to seize the opportunity to broaden our reach and deepen our impact. “My personal aim is to help all our members
thrive amidst change, offering a holistic package of support services and expert advice to deliver tailored solutions that meet the unique needs that our members are asking for.”
WEEE Consultation impact The WEEE Consultation response has been a pivotal aspect early in Graeme’s tenure as Chief Executive, but the new reforms look set to have a profound impact on shaping REPIC’s future endeavours.
PEOPLE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
Closer to producers Graeme continued: “Two decades ago, REPIC emerged as a visionary initiative; founded by producers, for producers. While our mission; to lead and shape producer responsibility; remains steadfast and our daily drive continues to be to represent our producers, the landscape of our remit has evolved significantly over the years and we’re now presented with an opportunity for growth. “A key priority under my leadership is to expand
our horizons. The WEEE Consultation has presented us with an opportunity and this is an era of growth, we’re determined to lead the way with the offering to our members.”
Attract and retain the best talent The key to continued development, Graeme believes is through attracting and retaining the best talent. “I’ve been fortunate enough to work alongside the current team for a number of years and am inspired by their dedication and talent. “It will be their passion and expertise that
drives our future success, and I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning. Together, we will script the next chapter in REPIC’s storied history.”
Embarking on a journey of growth and transformation As REPIC celebrates its 20th anniversary, REPIC’s New Chief Executive is ready to embrace new horizons with a positive attitude towards change and a readiness to pursue new opportunities.
