Online electrical sales declined in April
While online retail showed positive growth in April, with sales rising +10.2% year-on-year, electrical sales, which have been on a run of phenomenal sales since the start of the first government-imposed lockdown, declined 3.7%. For electricals, this was the first negative result in 19 months, according to data from the IMRG Capgemini Online Retail Index.

BSH achieved record turnover in 2020
BSH Hausgeräte GmbH (BSH) achieved the highest annual turnover in its more than 50- year history in 2020. The home appliance manufacturer reached sales revenues of €13.9 billion (£12bn), a 5.3% growth compared to the previous year. Dr Carla Kriwet, chairwoman of the BSH board of management, said: “Our strong brand portfolio, innovative products and digital solutions enabled us to satisfy consumers’ desires and expectations.”
Amazon announces 10,000 new permanent UK jobs
Amazon will create more than 10,000 new permanent jobs in 2021, taking its total UK workforce to more than 55,000 people by the end of year. The internet giant also announced that it will invest £10 million over three years to train to up to 5,000 employees in new skills and support the Government’s investment programme.

Electrical appliances to be cheaper to run and last longer with new standards

inisters have introduced tough new rules for electrical products to tackle
appliances ending up on the scrap heap sooner than they should and reducing carbon emissions at the same time. The changes will also set far higher energy- efficiency standards for electrical products which, overall, will save consumers an average of £75 a year on energy bills. They will cut eight mega tonnes of carbon emissions in 2021 by reducing the amount of energy products consume over their life-time – the equivalent of removing all emissions from Birmingham and Leeds each year.
Sony launches several BRAVIA TV models in large screen sizes

ony has announced the start of deliveries of several large-screen
