With energy consumption and water use now an important factor for consumers when choosing a new laundry appliance, in our first feature this month we take a look at some of the new machines designed to protect the environment while offering a sparkling clean.

Home Connect allows users to access and control the washing machine with the easy-to-use Home Connect app, or via Amazon Alexa. Bosch Serie 8 WTX88EH9GB heat pump tumble dryer The 9 kg capacity Bosch Serie 8 WTX88EH9GB heat pump tumble dryer hosts a number of features designed to minimise its impact on the environment. Smart Dry with Home Connect wirelessly receives information from the washing machine on the program, fill level and remaining moisture content of the last laundry cycle and then automatically selects the best drying programme, while AutoClean gets rid of the fluff from all areas in the dryer where it could build up, keeping the dryer working efficiently. It takes water from the load that’s just dried and flushes it through the door, the fluff filter and the heat exchanger, and washes it all down into a collecting container. empty the container. This saves having to clean out the fluff filter after every cycle. Miele WER865 WPS The top of the range WER865 WPS benefits from Miele’s sleek MTouch control panel allowing the user to choose programmes with a simple swipe or tap. The touch control panel has been designed to be as intuitive and similar to use as a familiar smartphone device. Compatible with the Mobile@ mobile app means the machine can be operated remotely from a smartphone or tablet or by voice control via Amazon Alexa to pause and start the machine’s cycle. Miele’s innovative WashAsisstant is also on board to recommend the most suitable programme for each laundry load.
