Amendment 2 represents the biggest set of updates to the 18th Edition since its publication. Among the signifi cant changes outlined in Amendment 2 are: • A new requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) in some AC fi nal circuits for installations in some types of higher risk residential buildings.

• The requirement for the fi re safety design of buildings to be documented where specifi c conditions of external infl uence exist, such as protected escape routes and locations with risk of fi re.

• A new method for determining the requirement to provide overvoltage protection.

• Changes to identifi cation, labels and notices, such as for consumer units, aff ecting how safety information is provided to the user of the electrical installation.

• A new chapter on Prosumer Low Voltage Electrical Installations, in a new part, Part 8.

Industry bodies and manufacturers have been quick to react, with ECA as well as Scolmore, Niglon, Hager, Electrium and Surge Protection Devices providing insight and resources to help contractors implement the necessary changes.

ESP continues racking up the orders

ESP has been experiencing In response to strong sales growth across all of its product ranges, security, fire protection and heating controls supplier ESP has invested in its warehouse facility to accommodate growing demand. The racking has been totally redesigned and expanded to allow for a 66% increase in the number of bulk pallet locations and an 88% increase in the number of picking locations.

The addition of the Fort Smart Security range of products at the end of last year has vastly increased the stock levels that the business is holding. ESP has now future-proofed the warehouse facility with the creation of more space to store new products for picking and more pallet spaces for deliveries. The ability to spread the stock out across pick locations will also increase the speed of the picking process

Whilst the redesign of the racking system was under way, ESP took the opportunity to upgrade the lighting in the warehouse, with products supplied by Scolmore Group company Ovia and ESP’s Duceri emergency lighting range, chosen for their energy saving properties, with the built-in sensor activating lights only in areas that are occupied.
