P31 Show Review:Layout 1 27/10/2021 17:04 Page 31 IndustryEvent

The Smart Buildings Show 2021 closed its doors last week, described by organiser the Turret Groupas “the biggest and best yet.”

Karl Walker, marketing development manager at Beckoff Automation, said: “It’s our fifth year at the show, it’s fantastic to see so many people back. The quality of visitors has been superb this year, arguably better than any other year we’ve seen before!”

Deepan Patel, industry manager – building infrastructure, Phoenix Contract, said: “Our experience with this show has been amazing. We’ve had a lot of interest from visitors, people have been attending our stand from all walks of the industry from universities to energy companies and beyond, it’s been great. And we’re already booked for next year, we can’t wait for 2022!”

T

aking place 6-7 October at the ExCel London, the show boasted a record attendance plus more exhibitors and

speakers than ever before, showing that despite the pandemic, the smart buildings industry is continuing to grow. Bringing together all the top names in the

smart buildings industry, the exhibition ran alongside a packed conference program with some of the most influential companies in the sector. Smart buildings deliver services that make

occupants productive at the lowest cost and environmental impact over the building lifecycle. To do this requires adding intelligence from the design phase through to the end of the building's useful life. Smart buildings use information technology during operation to connect subsystems, which typically operate independently, so that these systems can share information to optimise total building performance. The Smart Buildings Show is designed to

connect visitors to the latest information and technology in the smart buildings industry giving visitors the information they need to arrive at an informed decision on how to make their intelligent buildings more economic for owners and more functional and safe for occupiers. The free-to-attend exhibition also featured

four conference theatres for its extensive educational programme, ensuring that visitors stayed at the show for much of the day to gain the information needed to improve and update

their buildings. The training theatre allowed visitors to update their knowledge as well as get CPD accreditation. The event showcased debates with panellists from companies including Landsec, Legal & General Investment Management, Bellrock and ARM.

Exhibitor feedback First time exhibitor and Platinum sponsor, Aico, was delighted to attend the event. Ben Malton, regional specification manager, commented: “The show has been really exciting; it’s been great speaking to attendees and sector professionals. Our speaking slots have been really useful, helping discuss IoT deployment and seeing people engage with the wellbeing, data and insights of our work.”

Peter Beck, director of smart buildings for Sauter UK, agreed that it had been a very successful event. “This is our first year actually exhibiting at the show and I have to say, it’s been a total success to the highest degree. We’ve enjoyed seeing even more people through the doors and had engagement with people we never would’ve usually met. It’s a huge tick in the box and we’ll hopefully be back next year!”

Smart Buildings Show will return in 2022, with

more content promised. Claire Hatchett, sales manager for the event, commented: “We have had an excellent rebook and we are aiming to make the show bigger and better in 2022.

Smart Buildings Show 2022 will take place on the 12-13 October, 2022 at ExCeL, London.
