Vent-Axia charity football tournament supports Cancer Research

Ventilation leader Vent-Axia brought together leading building design professionals in March for an action-packed Charity Powerleague five-a-side Football Tournament.

H

osted by Vent-Axia at the world-class Powerleague in Shoreditch, London, the event saw eight teams battle it out in aid of Cancer Research UK in a five-hour, fiercely-contested football tournament. Vent-Axia’s Football Tournament raised a total of £1,625 for Cancer Research UK, the company’s charity of the year for 2025, thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended.

The event welcomed 70 industry professionals comprising eight teams featuring players from the following companies: Chapmanbdsp, XCO2, WSP, WP3, Etch Associates, Cudd Bentley, Bryden Wood and lastly Vent-Axia.

The tournament showcased impressive skill and sportsmanship, with an intense series of matches culminating in a nail-biting final between Cudd Bentley and XCO2, with Cudd Bentley finally lifting the trophy. Meanwhile, Chapmanbdsp secured the Plate after a hard-fought match against runners-up Vent-Axia. Every player taking part generously donated to Cancer Research UK.

Alongside the on-pitch action, Vent-Axia ran an exclusive charity auction, featuring a raft of prizes to further support Cancer Research UK. Among the standout items were VIP tickets to Brands Hatch for the British GT Championships. Football fans had a chance to bid for a Premium Matchday Experience at Tottenham offering unlimited food, a complimentary half-time bar and premium lounge access. Also up for grabs was the Vent-Axia PureAir Room 500X air purifier with CodiKoat and a powerful JBL Flip Essential 2 Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker, generously donated by Lindab and an Eco Show 5 (newest Gen), kindly donated by Diffusion, which features a 5.5” display allowing users to stream music, programmes, podcast and much more.

The auction added an exciting dimension to the tournament, helping to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK. In the last 50 years, Cancer Research UK has helped double survival in the UK. The charity is working towards a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. Cancer Research UK fundraising spokesperson Sharon Baldwin said: “We can’t thank Vent-Axia enough for organising this Powerleague 5-a-side football event and everyone who is taking part enough for helping us to fight over 200 types of cancer. Nearly 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our

lifetime, but all of us can support the research that will beat it.”

The money raised will help Cancer Research UK carry out world-class research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer. For example, as little as £25 can help kit out Cancer Research UK’s labs; £100 could help spot cancer earlier; £500 can provide cancer support; and £1,000 could help test potentially life-saving treatments and find the most promising new cancer drugs.

“Vent-Axia is proud to support Cancer Research UK as our Charity of the Year and we were delighted to have them at the event to share more about the incredible work they do. By backing this amazing organisation we hope to contribute to breakthroughs that bring us closer to a world where cancer no longer has such a profound impact on our

lives. It was fantastic to see the camaraderie among the teams and how, through our hospitality event, football brought everyone together to make a real difference. I even had players asking if they could sign up for next year’s event already!” said Alexis Roberts, Channel Marketing Manager at Vent-Axia. To round off a fantastic day players enjoyed a delicious barbecue and refreshments. Each participant took home as a gift a Vent-Axia bamboo eco water bottle (Mr Bamboo Cup) which is recycled, reusable and recyclable, with a mangrove tree planted for each bottle purchased.
