Welcome to the July issue of Electrical Wholesaler! P

ublished on 1 June 2022, the amended Part B (Fire Safety) of the Building Regulations, which are part of a wider package of reforms following the Grenfell tragedy, have made it a mandatory requirement for new residential developments over 18m to incorporate an evacuation alert system in accordance with BS 8629. While this is arguably a positive step in the right direction to improve fi re safety guidance and to ensure tall buildings are made safer in England, there is no one system suitable for all developments, and I look forward to seeing innovative and tailored solutions continue to develop in this space in the coming months. More on this in our August issue!

On page 20, meanwhile, you can read FireAngel’s Steve Boggis’ discussion with Craig Drinkald, National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) lead offi cer for Carbon Monoxide (CO), about bringing the industry together to ensure the highest standards of CO protection.
