Product News ESPadds Self Test Fittings to its range of

Emergency Lighting ESP continues to develop its Duceri range of Emergency Lighting, and the latest addition is a new range of Self Test Emergency Light Fittings that offer numerous benefits over standard fittings by reducing the costs and time associated with manual testing and inspection.

fittings is straightforward enough, the task of regularly inspecting every fitting on site for functionality, operation and duration can be an expensive, labour-intensive exercise. By opting for self test fittings, installers and contractors can save valuable time and expense, with each self test fitting utilising an inbuilt processor to initiate ‘Self Tests’. Once an issue is discovered, the fitting will clearly display the fault via the status LED. During initial power up, an automatic commissioning stage will begin,

and after the initial charge up time (up to 72 hours), the unit will carry out a full duration test. After all initial tests are completed successfully, the inbuilt processor will start the standard programmed test schedule, reporting failing functions via the status LED. In addition it is also possible to initiate a manual test on self test emergency lighting fittings for extra peace of mind ESP has added five new self test products to its growing Duceri Emergency Lighting range.

mergency lighting installations must have routine tests carried out, and these tests should all be documented with the results held on file. Whilst installing standard emergency light

Halve the install time with Scolmore’s new Fast Fit Connectors Coming up with products that will help electricians carry out installation projects more quickly and efficiently is what drives Scolmore’s new product development programme, and the latest additions to the Click Flow Connector range are no exception.

T

he new 20A 3 and 4 Pole Fast Fit Flow Connectors feature push- in, low maintenance terminals

to offer a time-saving benefit for the installer, with no screws required. In a speed test carried out by Scolmore, the installation times were compared for their new fast fit connectors, versus the equivalent screw terminal version and typically the fast-fit versions were completed in around half the time. The new range will be compatible with

all current Click Flow products – connectors, splitters, distribution boxes and ceiling rose. They are simple to install in just a few quick steps: Step one – remove the connector cover by

unlocking the locking peg. Step two – strip cables back to the appropriate length as stated on the bottom of the connector (12mm). The incorporation of a strip length marker will facilitate this. Step three – push the lever downwards. Offer the conductor into the terminal, ensuring there are no stray strands of wire. Step four – release lever to grip the cable,

making sure the cable cannot be easily pulled out. 38 | electrical wholesalerApril 2019

Step five – press the cables into the clamps. Step six – replace the cover back onto the

connector and lock the cover into place. Allowing installers to safely connect/disconnect

luminaires or appliances in areas that require quick installation and regular maintenance, the new fast- fit connectors will be suitable for a range of applications including education and training facilities, offices and conference rooms, healthcare environments and hotels. The new connectors are packaged in outer boxes containing 200 pieces in total, split into four inner

boxes each containing 50 pieces – all individually stacked. Since it introduced its first Flow

Connector in 2007, Scolmore has continually developed the category to offer a comprehensive range of products that offer simple and safe connectivity and control across a broad spectrum of lighting project requirements. With the emphasis now on flexibility and ease of installation, many building design projects are focussing on products and services that can adapt to changing legislation, energy efficiency requirements

and the needs of the client. Scolmore’s Flow Connector range makes the

wiring of a lighting circuit easy, using a combination of connectors, hubs and management boxes. The unique design of the Flow Connector products prevents the possibility of incorrect polarity connection, which is a problem with other similar products that are making their way into the market.
