Industry Event Seeing is believing

A gloomy day made bright by a dazzling reveal of a project five years in the making – V-TAC, a European supplier of LEDs, cut the ribbon on its brand new showroom in Slough.

Electrical Wholesaler Editor Hannah Hart reports…

Nobody was prouder than the V-TAC team themselves, however, and Stearn – the UK’s super distributor to the electrical market – were in attendance as special VIPs of the event. Frankly, the enthusiasm was infectious. For V-TAC, the showroom represents the culmination of half a decade of careful planning. The company aimed to make a bold move into the UK Market prospect, and five years ago V-TAC purchased the 20k-sqft property that would become the showroom that we peep through the curtains at today.

A

See for yourself As for the why, Kashish Amarnani, UK Sales Director, walked me through the showroom and explained that lighting products can often be hard for a wholesaler to visualise just by looking at a catalogue. Flat images on paper weren’t going to cut it. So, V-TAC developed the shiny

new Slough showroom (or “Experience Centre” as it’s described to me). I was first greeted by V-TAC’s range of outdoor lighting products for residential and commercial projects. Strip lights, bollards and more that are all weatherproof and rugged. The rest of the showroom follows a similar organisational formula, divided into digestible sections that reflect stock categories and percentages. The main interior quite literally dazzles with

more than 700 live bulbs on display, and there’s not a wall or a surface that hasn’t been utilised. Dinesh Sajnani, V-TAC CEO, hopes the Experience Centre will act as a hub for both wholesalers and designers, who’ll be able to walk through as I did and visualise their own projects, as well as come away with specifications and quotes.

A bright decision There’s particular emphasis on smart technology in the showroom, with a broad display dedicated to Alexa and Google Home integration. This tech, which was once thought of as a luxury, has even migrated into V-TAC’s existing product line, making it more accessible than ever.

In 2018, Smart Home products carved out their own piece of the wholesaler market and became a prevalent part of supplier offerings, and in 2019 V-TAC expects that prices will become even more competitive. This automated intelligence is cropping up elsewhere, and V-TAC’s customisable Fire Rated Downlights are of particular value to wholesalers, meaning they can stock a single product with CCT changing, instead of three with different colour temperatures. The downlights host a range of customisability options, colour temperatures, and more features that drive demand as bespoke homes grow more and more desirable. V-TAC is investing a lot in the CCT 3 in 1

technology which is already available in our downlights, lamps, battens, track lights, and chandeliers. This will continue to include more SKUs and categories over the coming months.

The proof is in the pudding Naturally, the products take centre stage in the showroom, and V-TAC has championed fair prices since its inception in 2009, making it
