FROM THE EDITOR

‘Tis the season. (No, not that season!)

Welcome to the latest edition of Footwear Today! We are well and truly into peak holiday season now and we’ve been blessed with some amazing weather across the UK in the past month or so. There have been mixed reports of what this has meant in terms of retail sales – the Office for National Statistics said that May sales were slightly

up, however June might be a different story – but hopefully for you it’s been a positive start to the Summer season so far. Changes in the weather certainly brings out the shoppers, and the fashion and footwear industry probably gets most of the spend. People don’t want to make do with the same pairs of shoes they had last year and instead they find an excuse to update their wardrobe. Especially if they’re going on holiday! So it’s the perfect time for you to capture your customers’ imagination and offer the latest and greatest Summer footwear and accessories. Colour is extremely important this year so why not update your window displays with an eye-catching collection that will tempt customers to be bold and brave with their purchases.

In this issue, we are presenting some of this Summer’s hottest holiday styles that will kit them out for beach days and evening dinners, and everything in between! Take a look at this month’s selected styles from page 20…

And talking of seasonal trends, attending shows is one of the best ways to get a closer look at footwear fashions for the year ahead. And one of the next events that I hope you’ve got marked in your calendar is Footwear Today Live, taking place on 3-4 September 2023 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham! Read more on page 8…
